All Elite Weekly – Omega Returns – 06/01/25 -12/01/25
Hello friends and welcome to yet another week in All Elite Wrestling. Kenny Omega made his mighty return to the company and some unique twists coming out of the gauntlet match for the number one contender spot for the AEW World Championship. Let’s break it down.
DYNAMITE
RESULTS
Live from the F&M Bank Arena in Clarksville, Tennessee! Excalibur, Ian Riccaboni, and Matt Menard are on commentary tonight, with Tony Schiavone on assignment!
Will Ospreay vs Buddy Matthews
Ospreay continues to show why he is considered one of the best in the world at this time. Buddy was more than capable of keeping up with him and hold his own. This match could have easily been an epic 20+ minute match, but I think the decision for it being shorter was a smart move because it leaves you wanting more.
Winner – Will Ospreay
Bobby Lashley vs Mark Briscoe
I went into this one expecting Bobby to just dominate Briscoe; however, I was wrong. We got a good showing from Briscoe here even if in the end he does succumb to a Hurt Lock.
Winner – Bobby Lashley
#1 AEW World Heavyweight Championship Contender Gauntlet
Match Rules: 2 men start the match, random interval another competitor enters, no set number, no time limit, one fall ends it all.
Jay White and Hangman Page are kicking things off for this one. Wheeler Yuta is in at number three and walks right into a Bladerunner, but Hangman breaks it up before the ref can get to three. In at number four is Swer…. actually, it’s just the troll Ricochet who has hijacked Swerve’s “Who’s House?” sound. Out at number five is Adam Cole BAY BAY and he hits a Panama Sunrise right on Ricochet. TNT Champion Daniel Garcia is number 6 followed up by Powerhouse Hobbs at number 7. Hobbs dominates most of the men in the match before Roderick Strong makes his way down at number 8. Lance Archer takes the number 9 spot, and his first stop is Yuta with choke slam on the apron. 10 sees Kyle O’Reilly solidifying the United Kingdom team in this match. We get Jeff Jarrett’s entrance for number 11, but before he can make it into the ring, Yuta attacks him from behind and takes him to the backstage area. United Kingdom attempt to take out Hobbs, but he powers through them with a shoulder block. O’Reilly is hit with a Spinebuster from Hobbs and that will be the end of it.
Winner – Powerhouse Hobbs
Toni Storm vs Kris Statlander vs Willow Nightingale – Winner is number 1 position in gauntlet next week
It was great to see the newcomer, Toni Storm grab an opportunity to pull off a miracle. Unfortunately, she was outgunned by the more experienced Willow and Statlander. If you were watching this on TV, you missed most of the match due to a commercial break. Statlander secures her spot as number 1 in the gauntlet match on the next Dynamite.
Winner – Kris Statlander
Kenny Omega Returns
My Thoughts
This was a solid episode of Dynamite with some really great work in building the stories. The one thing that killed this show was how the crowd were so damn flat. I love the smaller arena and more intimate settings, but this crowd killed moments that should have been epic, instead they felt like they were just mediocre instead.
COLLISION
RESULTS
Live from the Atkins Ford Arena in Athens, Georgia! Tony Schiavone and Nigel McGuinness are on the call as they’re joined by Chris Jericho.
Big Bill vs Rated R Superstar Cope
A fun opening match with Cope which helped to elevate Big Bill once again. As the fight spills to the outside, Cope bounces Bill’s head off the announce table multiple times much to the disappointment of Jericho who is on commentary. At one point the turnbuckle becomes exposed and both men end up taking a shot from it. Bill tries his best, but Cope hits a low blow behind the refs back and hits his spear and then some hammer and anvil elbows, and chokes Bill out.
Winner – Cope
Komander vs PAC
Both men have the high-flying ability but this time it was PAC sticking to more of a pound mechanic. Komander’s ability in the ring is absolutely worth a highlight reel all of its own. Unfortunately, he was caught out by PAC’s intensity.
Winner – PAC
Outrunners vs Death Riders
The Outrunners are definitely over with the crowd and sometimes that is all you need. Unfortunately for them the tag team in the ring do seem to suffer from the lack of time and experience. Yuta and Claudio pull out some of the standard heel tactics for this one but end up with Claudio hitting the Rocket Launcher for the three count
Winner – Death Riders
Mariah May vs Harley Cameron
Cameron goes for a quick roll up to try and secure the win right from the start. May drops Cameron with a shotgun dropkick which only gets her a two count. Mariah eventually gets to hit the Storm Zero for the win
Winner – Mariah May
Brody King vs Trevor Blackwell
Blackwell tries to mount some offensive in this one but is outgunned by King. King easily disposes of Blackwell.
Winner – Brody King
AEW TNT Championship – Daniel Garcia (c) vs Katsuyori Shibata
If you want your technical wrestling match of the week, this one is it. Tony Schiavone lets us know that Garcia had some flight troubles due to the weather in Georgia. A very good quality back and forth between the two men and Garcia is starting to show why TK made sure to keep him on the books.
Winner – Daniel Garcia
Dax Harwood vs Chris Jericho
For this match, everyone else is barred from ringside. The two men lock up and push each other to the outside of the ring. Jericho dumps Dax into the front row and Dax fights back with some right hands. This match for what it is suffers from the fact there was a lot of miscommunications, and the physicality looked off and lost the crowd.
Winner – Chris Jericho
My Thoughts
I loved seeing the opening promo segments back as it helps set up the show and provides more time for the matches rather than having to have the “right before the match” promo. The main event did not do it for me this week and it was really probably the lowlight of the show. Harley Cameron is really coming into her own now and is very entertaining. I could easily see her being lined up to feature more and more especially with the upcoming show in Brisbane.
