PWDU TV & Indy Aussie Abroad Winners Announced
The amount of local talent who have made the trip overseas to bring the Aussie heat to rings across the world this year has been incredible to see. Aussies continue to dominate the overseas scene and prove to the world that it’s the Australians who hit hardest.
It was tough to narrow down the endless amount of talent out there to just a few people, but these are the ones I believe have had an astounding year, and have put in the effort to prove it.
This award is given to those who have worked hard to make this year bigger and better than the rest, and who have created a lasting impact for future Aussies to hit the scene.
This year’s Aussies Abroad Major Promotion winner is South Australia’s very own Bronson Reed, who I believe has taken 2024 by storm and showed the world exactly what the Aussies can bring to the world of pro wrestling.
Reed first started his career in the Australian independent circuit in 2007, but it wasn’t until 2019 that Reed signed with WWE. After some work with NXT, Reed took a break from the promotion to wrestle with New Japan and Impact Wrestling before returning to WWE in 2022. Earlier this year, it was clear to many that Reed was struggling to find his footing in the major promotion, with the talented wrestler not even receiving a spot at February’s Elimination Chamber in Perth. It wasn’t until the middle of this year that Reed seemed to have taken things into his own hands, and began to entirely dominate the WWE locker room. Since then, Reed has destroyed almost every single WWE male wrestler with his iconic series of hard-hitting ‘tsunamis’, and has made a name for himself as one of the toughest guys on the main roster. The Aussie has completely reinvented himself in such a short amount of time, and it’s inspiring to see what can happen when hard work finally pays off.
This year’s special mention for Aussies Abroad Major Promotion winner is none other than Aussie powerhouse Zaria (formerly known as DELTA). This wouldn’t be an Aussies Abroad list without the mention of Zaria and the incredible journey she has taken to completely dominate the Aussie independent and international scene in just a number of years. This year saw the Adelaide talent finally picked up by the big leagues, and an official NXT debut under the new name of Zaria. Since then, Zaria has gone on to be a dominant force in the locker room and has already gone on to pin the current NXT champion and main event her first PLE. To say Zaria has gone above and beyond this year is an understatement, and we South Aussies can not wait to see how far she can go with WWE and the international scene.
This year’s Aussies Abroad Independent winner is the incredible PWA local Lena Kross, who has gone above and beyond to bring her talent across the world this year. The sheer number of rings this powerhouse has competed in not only in Australia but across the world this year has been impressive, as she continues to bring the Aussie heat worldwide. Some highlights of her work this year include her time with Sendai Girl’s Pro Wrestling, House of Glory in New York, and EVE in London. Kross also placed 99th this year in Pro Wrestling Illustrated’s top 250 Women list; an impressive number that further proves her impact on pro wrestling across the world. It is clear to both local and international audiences that Kross is destined for greatness.
This year’s special mention for Aussies Abroad Independent winner is fellow PWA powerhouse Charli Evans, who has brought her sheer power in the ring to a huge number of overseas promotions this year, including those across the UK, Spain, the US, and Japan all in the past 12 months. Along with her undeniable talent in ring, Evans has also been outspoken this year on several topics that continue to affect women’s wrestling and has gone above and beyond to create lasting change and an impressive legacy for the sport. We can not wait to see what another year brings for Evans.
