ROBBO’S 12 DAYS OF CHRISTMAS #4: Mayhem Pro
Welcome back to the Christmas chaos! My name’s Mick, or you can call me Robbo. I love my wrestling, especially Aussie wrestling, and that drove the concept for this series of articles. What better way to spend the holiday season than to dive into various Aussie wrestling promotions?
In case you missed the first three, the concept is this- 12 days leading into Christmas, with the final article dropping Christmas Day- I write an article on a different Aussie wrestling promotion. They can be a big fed, or a small one, from anywhere around the country. I do a little write-up on the promotion, include some history/context, and slap on a video for good measure, because why not watch a metric f**kton of Aussie wrestling as the working year winds down?
The big boss man (not that one) wanted me to include a promotion that was a little “outside the box”. We definitely started with a couple of very prominent ones, but the intention was always to expand my own personal horizons as an Aussie wrestling fan, as well as the reader’s if possible. So, I’m based in NSW, a little south of Sydney, so the NSW scene is mostly my bread and butter. But today, we take a trip down to Victoria, and while the MCW powerhouse is there and hasn’t been forgotten about… today, we take a look at Mayhem Pro.
Day 4: Mayhem Pro (Victoria)
Established in 2018, Mayhem Pro has 18 shows to its credit, but with 11 of them occuring in the past two years, they’re certainly building momentum. Owned by the uber-talented and creative JXT, as well as FOX (Fun Time Phil) and Jake Navara, they’ve got a team of workers who also seem to have a solid grasp on the business side of things. Dusty Rhodes used to say, “perception is reality”, and the reality is, Mayhem Pro give a very good perception of themselves through what they present in their graphics and social media. JXT’s skill as a graphics designer is evident, and even a visit to their Instagram or X pages reveals stunning, eye-catching graphics that are sure to grab the attention of the casual or hardcore wrestling fan.
The talent roster is quite strong as well. In addition to the above names, Anth Cava, Lochy Hendricks and Erika Reid are highly skilled athletes who feature prominently in larger promotions like MCW and OPW. Bolstered by graduates of the Relentless School of Pro Wrestling, Mayhem Pro certainly have the foundations for a company that can go from strength to strength, with a cast of current and future stars that are athletic, charismatic and entertaining as hell.
A testament to the growth in the promotion is the introduction of new championships. Mayhem Pro’s only current championship is the uniquely designed Mayhem Pro Internet Championship, held by the enigmatic JAB. But with the increase in shows and roster members, Mayhem Pro have recently introduced the Mayhem Pro Tag Team Championship. The inaugural champions are to be determined through a tournament, with the first round of the tournament occuring at a recent Summer Showcase event on Dec 6.
The video I’ve chosen to feature for Mayhem Pro is the Relentless Rumble 3. It’s the latest full show on their YouTube channel, but full disclosure, even if it wasn’t, and the Summer Showcase event was uploaded there, I still would have chosen the Rumble. I love Rumbles. Matches, events, in the Bronx… I just love all the Rumbles, man. Even reffed a Rumble once! (cheers, Rock and Roll Wrestling) But seriously, Rumbles are great as a “sampler platter”, to get an introduction to a wide cast of characters all at once.
If you enjoyed this wildly entertaining Rumble (and the matches surrounding it), be sure to follow Mayhem Pro on social media and subscribe to their YouTube channel. And as always, if you’re in Victoria and able to get to a show, do it- there’s nothing like the live experience!
Until next time, take care.
A man who loves his wrestling, MMA, and has been known to dabble in karaoke. Previously wrote for Snap Mayors Media and ran The Arena Media for several years. As many wrestling fans do, I often envisioned myself becoming a pro wrestling superstar, but having Cerebral Palsy makes that dream a tough one to attain. Did do a brief referee spot for Rock N Roll Wrestling and I’d love to do more non-wrestler roles if laying the Smackdown is out of my reach, but until then, I’ll be hitting you with some refreshing writing like an F5!
Underrated for sure but who cares they’re doing their thing, they don’t need to be no.1
Good fed.
