All Elite Weekly 11/11/24 – 17/11/24
Hello friends and welcome to another All Elite Weekly brought to you once again by myself, Raz. There is going to be a slight change of format here because I noticed over the past couple of weeks that the weekly has been huge and might be a bit hard for people to read all in one sitting, so with that being said, let’s take an adventure through the landscape of AEW from this week.
Dynamite – Wednesday November 13th 2024
Results
Hangman Page & Christian Cage vs. Bang Bang Gang – In what was billed as a grudge match before the PPV, we got a solid back and forth match and to somewhat even up the sides, Nick Wayne was taken out by HOOK. After some distractions by Mother Wayne and interference by Kip Sabian, Christian and Hangman Page walk out victorious.
Falls Count Anywhere: Roderick Strong vs. Lance Archer (Battle to 3 wins match) – This match started right off the heels of the previous segment with Ospreay and Fletcher and it started as Strong hits Archer with a kendo stick on the ramp. The fight immediately spills into the crowd with involvement of Brian Cage, Mike Bennett and Matt Taven. Roddy takes the win here after a flying knee and secured his spot at Full Gear against MJF.
After the match Strong gets on the microphone and says, “this all ends at Full Gear”. Before he can leave the ring though he is taken out by Takeshita.
Konosuke Takeshita vs. Adam Cole – Once again this match is coming straight out of the previous segment on the show. This was a match where everyone thought that it was a no brainer that Adam Cole would walk away with the win and go on to face MJF at Full Gear, however we were wrong. Takeshita was successful in his mission to keep Cole away from Full Gear and MJF.
After the match, Takeshita beats down on Cole and Strong runs in for the save, only for Takeshita to get the upper hand. Kyle O’Reilly comes out with a chair in hand and clears out Takeshita, shaking hands with Roddy but not with Cole.
Britt Baker vs. Penelope Ford – After her return a few weeks ago, Britt is back in the ring once again and you can see there is a bit of ring rust on her from her time away. Both ladies were not a strong showing in this match and Britt wins with her Lock Jaw submission.
As Britt celebrates the win, Serena Deeb comes out to the stage looking to setup the feud going forward for Baker.
Swerve Strickland vs. Lio Rush – What was potentially a show stealer definitely delivered on the action. Rush showcased his speed and Swerve showed why he was trusted as the top man in the company. Swerve ultimately gets the win and after the match The Hurt Syndicate make their presence known by taking it to Swerve and Nana while Rush and security can only watch on.
FTR vs. Kings of the Black Throne (Full Gear 4-way Contenders) – Match of the night right here. FTR and KOTBT is a pairing that could easily work a program that would lead to an epic PPV level match. A huge battle of power between the teams and this felt like the style of match we would get on Collision which usually go 20+ minutes. There were moments when we didn’t know who would win this match, and even at the end it was a major surprise to me to see King lock in the choke on Dax and get the win. Kings of the Black Throne advance to Full Gear to take part in the Fatal Fourway for the Tag Team Championship.
The show ends with FTR and KOTBT shaking hands,
Rampage – Friday November 15th 2024
Results
Hikaru Shida vs. Leila Grey – Quite possibly the quickest match on the show. Shida is clearly working her way back to being a solid part of the women’s division and lining herself up to find her way back into title contention. Shida hits the Falcon Arrow for the win.
Backstage we are greeted to Harley Cameron on guitar serenading Renee.
Mark Briscoe vs. Ariya Daivari – Both men in this match have been around long enough to know how it works in the ring and to put on a good match for the fans. Mark Sterling gets involved in the match early on and at one point, Briscoe introduces a chair. The match is a good showing for both men and Briscoe takes out the win with the Froggy Bow.
Komander vs. Rocky Romero – Komander has been getting a showing as of late on Rampage and that is definitely not a bad thing. We get a tease of MVP watching on in the backstage area and Komander picks up victory.
Lexi Nair is backstage with Anna Jay hyping up her rubber match against Mariah May for Collision when she is confronted by Taya Valkyrie.
LFI vs. Rich Holliday and Alec Price – Strangely, LFI is not being accompanied by Jake Roberts to the ring in this match. Morto starts this match on behalf of LFI and he comes out strong taking it to Price who is no match for the Beast. RUSH and Mortos make short work of this team and score the win.
Backstage once again with Lexi and MVP this time. MVP says he has been scouting talent and Komander will be facing Shelton tomorrow night on Collision.
Ricochet vs. Dante Martin – A battle of the highflyers here. We get the better part of 10 minutes for this match and both men don’t take any shortcuts in their performance. Dante is growing more and more into himself and the level he needs to be at as a competitor, but Ricochet showed why he is still on top, even as a newcomer to the company. Ricochet takes out the match with his new Spirit Gun finisher.
Collision – Saturday November 16th
Results
Harley Cameron vs. Mina Shriakawa – Mina is back and this is her first match back in AEW and she is here with her championships. Cameron and Mina really do work well together, and Cameron has come a long way since her debut in the company. A good quality opening match for this show with Mina securing the win after a Glamorous Driver.
Daniel Garcia vs. Johnny TV – Johnny TV is one of those talents that you can always rely on to have a good match, and his match here is no exception. The MxM collection get involved on the outside of the ring and during the match, Matt Menard is involved in a brawl with Jack Perry. Garcia gets the win with a seated Cobra Clutch.
In the back of the arena, Menard is getting jumped by Perry which leads to Garcia running backstage to help his friend. Perry has attempted to tie Menard to the back of his bus with chains and is going to drag him out of the arena. Before Perry can get into the driver’s seat, Garcia attacks him and frees Menard from the chains.
Shelton Benjamin vs Komander – Shelton has come into AEW with a chip on his shoulder and something to prove. Komander puts up a decent fight in the match but is no match for the power behind Benjamin.
After the match Shelton attempts to rip off the mask of Komander and Alex Abrahantes attempts to make the save only to be destroyed by MVP.
Powerhouse Hobbs vs. Beefcake Bronson – Hobbs absolutely dominates this one. Literally meaty men, slapping meat in this match. Powerhouse easily walks out the winner.
LFI vs. The Acclaimed (Full Gear 4-way Contenders) – Acclaimed changing up their style in this match compared to what we are used to seeing from them. A great showcase of tag team wrestling within AEW once again. The Acclaimed punch their ticket into the match at Full Gear and will go on to face HOB, Private Party and The Outrunners for the Tag Team Championship.
Mariah May vs Anna Jay (NO DQ Women’s World Championship) – Anna Jay is getting her last attempt at the championship while Mariah is holding it in this match. The match starts off with Anna taking it to Mariah on the outside. Backstage we get Taya and Deonna watching on. Tony Schiavone gets in on the action as Mariah lands in his lap. The use of weapons is prevalent throughout the match. We even got a spot where Jay utilizes barbwire for her Queen Slayer submission hold, however she ultimately succumbs to Mariah and some hair spray.
A decently solid week by AEW. What will this week hold as it is the go home week for Full Gear.
