Incredible Attendance Milestone, Over 2,000 Jam AIS Arena
Canberra based Slam Pro Wrestling League have yet again shown why they’re among the most popular promotions in Australian wrestling with a reported 2,432 fans in attendance at their latest show, Rage In The Cage.
The event took place at the AIS Arena in Canberra on Saturday night November 2nd where Dan Archer beat Luke Watts in a cage to become the new Slam Pro Wrestling League Champion, Rita Stone defeated Kingsley to become the new Slam Pro Women’s Champion, new Slam Tag Team Champions were also crowned as The Dropouts, Scott Green and The Tuckman beat The Untouchables, Damian Slater and Marcius Pitt.
Former NRL player and Canberra legend Terry Campese made his professional wrestling debut in a Battle Royale. King Vance would go on to outlast 19 other competitors to win the match.
Slam Pro Wrestling League are certainly doing things right in the nations capital with past attendances drawing in excess of 1,000 fans, now reaching over 2,000 in a short amount of time, is this a case of right place right time or an example of production and promotion taken to the next level? We at PWdownunder.com certainly hope this is a sign to come for promotions across all states.
Fans on social media have begun to speculate if this event has in fact had a higher attendance than WWE NXT Live, which was held at the AIS Arena in 2016.
Referee Graham ‘Fozzy’ Young, who officiated the main event took to facebook to say…
“The most amazing show I’ve been on. No words can do justice. 2,432 fans, no internationals, just Aussie grown talent.”
Former Slam Champion Mikey Broderick, who defeated Tommy Knight on the night said on facebook…
“2,432—The SLAM! Pro Wrestling League has quickly become the number one promotion in the country. Hitting this incredible attendance milestone is a true testament to our world-class homegrown athletes and dedicated team. Australia has the best talent in the world, and last night proved that grassroots professional wrestling can steal the spotlight anywhere in the world!”
