WWE releases Indi Hartwell
WWE have today announced the release of Australian wrestler Indi Hartwell, marking the end of her time on the NXT Brand. Hartwell signed with the WWE in November 2019, the former NXT Women’s champion was best known for her work in The Way, a fan-favorite faction in NXT, alongside Johnny Gargano, Candice LeRae, and Austin Theory.
Her release comes at a time when WWE is making several changes, including roster adjustments and talent releases across various brands. Hartwell’s departure has been met with disappointment from fans, as she was never really given a main roster opportunity. Although she was briefly moved to RAW in the 2023 draft, her time on the main roster was cut short due to injuries.
Hartwell posted the following on social media…
Don’t cry because it’s over, smile because it happened

With her release, speculation is growing about her next steps. Many are hopeful she will join a promotion like AEW, where former WWE wrestlers have found success and creative freedom, or return home to Australian wrestling where she initially honed her skills. The former NXT Women’s champion will now serve a 90 day no-compete clause.
