Tuesday Morning Raw
Raw: 06/08/2024
Channel: Foxtel WWE Channel/Kayo/Binge
With Summer Slam taking place over the weekend Raw was set as they would show the fallout from Damian Priest and Rhea Ripley being betrayed by the Judgement Day and how CM Punk and Drew McIntyre reacted after their match. Along with this, we see the Wyatt Sicks make their in-ring debut and we see Gunther as the new World Heavyweight Champion.
The New World Heavyweight Champion
After Summer Slam Gunther would start this Raw off as the new World Heavyweight Champion as he declares that he will once again make history with this title as he did with the Intercontinental Championship. The first contender to Gunther’s title reign would make his entrance and to Gunther’s surprise, Randy Orton was the first in line. As Gunther and Randy Orton had previously had a controversial finish to their match at King and Queen of the Ring Randy was out there to cash in his rematch to face Gunther for the World Heavyweight Championship making the first match for Bash in Berlin official. Randy thinks he’s the only person who can go toe to toe with Gunther in the match and if their match at King and Queen of the Ring is anything to go off this match is sure to treat Gunther’s home country to a great main event.
Ludwig Kaiser vs Sheamus
Ludwig Kaiser would return from injury this week and finish what he started by facing Sheamus in the ring. Sheamus would use his strength to control the match early on, but the tides would turn as Ludwig Kaiser would appear to have re-injured his ribs. Kaiser would crawl out of the ring and have the ref check on him as he waited for the perfect time to attack Sheamus once he had his back turned. Ludwig would hit his signature move of kicking Sheamus’s head into the steel stairs and try to win the match by countout. Kaiser would continue to try to end Sheamus, but Sheamus would fight back with a clover leaf submission and the ten beats of the battering. As Sheamus had the advantage, Pete Dunne would come out and try to attack Sheamus again, but Sheamus could dodge and take out Pete Dunne. Sheamus would make his way back into the match and hit Kaiser with a running knee and the Brogue Kick giving Sheamus the win. Once again in this match, we see Pete Dunne try and take out Sheamus as we still wait to see why Pete has such a big problem with Sheamus.
CM Punk’s Reaction to Summer Slam
CM Punk would come out to address the WWE universe after his match at Summer Slam and he was surprisingly happy considering the result. He said that he managed to come back from his injury in just five months compared to the suspected nine months he was supposed the be out and he was happy because he was back. Punk wouldn’t be happy for much longer as Seth Rollins would come out and challenge Punk to a fight right there but before they could go Drew McIntyre would come out of the stands to brag about winning on the weekend. McIntyre wanting a rematch against Punk would continue to talk and show the bracelet that he still had with Punk’s wife’s and dog’s name on it which got Punk’s attention as he would leave the ring and chase after Drew. With Seth alone in the ring, Big Bronson Reed would use this opportunity to make a statement to the WWE by taking out Seth and hitting him with six Tsunamis after fighting through security. Seth was taken out and is suspected to have suffered internal bleeding from the attack as he could be seen coughing out blood. This feud is a huge opportunity for Bronson Reed to prove himself to the WWE universe and if he can do well, he may even be in title contention later in the year.
Damian Priest vs JD McDonough
Earlier on in the show Priest would challenge Finn to a match in a segment which showed a clear face turn by Damian Priest as he would call the WWE universe his new family. Finn would also show off the new Judgement Day consisting of JD McDonough, Dominic Mysterio, Liv Morgan and Carlito. This would lead to the match between JD and Damian Priest where Priest would ultimately overpower JD McDonough. Before the match ended Finn Balor would attack Priest from behind causing a no-contest where the rest of the new Judgement Day would attack Damian. Damian was able to fight his way out of it and scare Finn away until Liv and Dom would attack Damian causing Rhea Ripley to come out. Liv and Dom would try to escape but Rhea would get a hold of Liv and throw her into the barricade a couple of times. Dom would save Liv, but Rhea wasn’t done there as the Terror Twins Damian and Rhea would team up on JD and take him out. Rhea and Damian did everything they needed to by showing that they are out for blood against the new Judgement Day where hopefully we’ll see Rhea have a rematch for her title and Damain face off against Finn Balor.
Highlights:
- Ivy Nile returns and walks away from her old friend Maxxine Dupri
- Odyssey Jones returns to TV and helps the New Day defeat AOP to Xavier Woods’s surprise
- Atown Downunder defeat R-truth and the Miz after R-Truth accidentally takes out Miz
- Shayna Basler defeats Lyra Valkyria but Damage CTRL makes a statement by attacking Shayna, Zoe and Sonya as Iyo Sky would also defeat Sonya Deville later in the night.
American Made vs Wyatt Sicks (Main Event)
In this week’s main event, the Wyatt Sicks would make their long-awaited debut against the new faction American Made consisting of Chad Gable and the Creed Brothers. The Wyatt Sicks would make their entrance to Bray Wyatt’s entrance theme Shatter as the entire faction would walk out together as one. As they made their entrance Uncle Howdy and Abbey the Witch would sit on the outside of the ring to watch the match as Dexter Lumis, Eric Rowan and Joe Gacy would enter the ring as one and gain an early advantage against American Made. Micheal Cole explained this match best by saying it was systematic destruction from the Wyatt Sicks as the faction would work so well together as a team. The Wyatt Sicks would win the match with Dexter Lumis pinning Chad Gabel in a match that could be described as perfect. As the match ended Howdy and Abbey would join them in the ring as they would celebrate together making a statement to the entire WWE in a performance that would make Bray Wyatt proud.
This week’s show felt a little slow as it’s clear to see that they want to slowly build the matches between Damian Priest and Finn Balor as well as Rhea and Liv Morgan’s re-match. It was great to see Australia’s own Bronson Reed getting an opportunity to shine as he destroyed Seth Rollins, and we would also get the first match announcement for Bash in Berlin made with Randy Orton and Gunther which will be taking place on the 1st of September in Australia. The main event was great with the Wyatt Sicks changing the landscape of WWE and with Sami Zayn facing Bron Breakker next week in a two out of three falls match for the Intercontinental Championship it will be interesting to see if there is any Bloodline interference considering the rumours that Jey and Sami are expected to show up on Smackdown this weekend.
