Olympic Gold Medallist Debuts In WWE

Tamyra Mensah-Stock made her debut for the WWE on the latest episode of NXT Level Up.

Mensah-Stock was the first African American woman to win an Olympic gold medal in freestyle wrestling winning the medal at the 2020 Tokyo summer Olympic games. She signed to WWE on May 3rd 2023, being the first female Olympic gold medallist to sign with the WWE.  

On the July 5th episode of NXT Level up Mensah stock made her first televised appearance debuting under the name Tyra Mae Steele. Her appearance on the programme included a backstage interview where her character was introduced and then later on in the night she had a match against Wren Sinclair getting her first exposure to wrestling on TV and in front of a live audience.

Steele lost the match to Sinclair, but she showed promise in her debut and as she spends more time in the performance centre she will likely be showcased more often.
