Gunther Becomes The Longest Reigning WWE Intercontinental Champion
455 days and counting since Gunther, one of the most polarising professional wrestlers the world has ever seen was crowned the new WWE Intercontinental Champion, breaking the Honky Tonk Man’s previous record of 454 days.
The Ring General defeated Ricochet on the June 10th, 2022 episode of Smackdown, and has defended the belt 16 times since then. Including memorable matches at WrestleMania 39 and Clash At The Castle in Cardiff, Wales.
This reign is slightly more than half of what Gunther achieved as the WWE United Kingdom Champion, holding the belt for a staggering 870 days, from 2019 to 2021.
