EPW Cooking with Gas on a Hot Summer Night.

Summer 24-25 might be rounding its final corner of the season but on Saturday February 8 EPW is making sure it will be sizzling at The Point in Merriwa when the promotion presents Hot Summer’s Night with EPW and its wrestlers shooting for a scorching start to 2025. Fans in attendance best slip, slop, slap and slide because this card has the potential to produce sunburn.

The Go Time matches scheduled before doors officially open offer opportunities for the combatants to get their 2025 campaigns off to a beach sprint, with Lucas Fantasia and Elijah Henry in one on one action and in the second contest, Rohan Karguis, Ryan Rivers, Del Cano and Manu Kaitoa competing in a four way dance. For a number of these grapplers, it will all be about drawing a line in the sand and move on from the setbacks of 2024 and open their 2025 account with a crucial win which may just set up their entire year.

Bruno Nitro is also one such person looking for a change in fortunes in 2025 but will very much be fighting against a powerful rip when he faces ‘The Godfather’ Davis Storm. In an iron sharpens iron scenario, there aren’t more higher quality pieces of iron than Davis Storm and this could be just what Nitro needed to bring out his best, or it could be a very difficult setback to have to kick off the year.

Taylor King has made it clear to Jesse Lambert that he has a big target on his head heading into 2025 and has felt that Lambert has overshadowed some of his greatest achievements and he is tired of it. Taylor believes Jesse is not on his level and looks to show that come February 8. Jesse on the other hand he a fairly memorable 2024 that saw many achievements, but perhaps none more important than becoming EPW champion at Goldrush. Unfortunately what once a great friendship has been smashed like a toddler destroying a sandcastle and these two will now collide with more animosity than humidity in the air.

EPW champion Marcius Pitt and Damian Slater  are truly amazing singles stars in their own right, but as a tag team they form the legendary tag team The Untouchables and the TMDK team are difficult to match for even the most focused tag teams. They will be in action as a unit once again against two gentlemen who are seeking a match for the EPW championship against Pitt in James Hartness and the EPW Invitational tournament winner Hayden Zenith. Whilst Zenith can essentially call his shot, Hartness may have more at stake in this match and needs to make a statement against one of Australia’s greatest tag teams. Can this dynamic be the undoing of the Zenith/Hartness team? Or can they focus on the task at hand and work as a team to take down The Untouchables?

Two big title matches are also sanctioned for this card with The Great George defending his EPW coastal championship won at ReAwakening for the very first time against Chris J Lazareth. They say you aren’t really a champion until you have defended your belt and The Great George despite reaching the top of the sand dune has the highly experienced CJL to contend with, who fell at the very last hurdle of the EPW Invitational tournament. The other title match will also bring the heat to the night as a Riot Den Match will take place between The Pulse, D.N.T and A.T.O for the EPW tag team titles which will serve as the main event of the evening and let me tell you this match will be anything but a friendly game of beach cricket. A riot den match involves surrounding the ring with riot fencing, with two competitors starting the match and new wrestlers entering the den at regular intervals until all members of the match have entered when a siren will blare through the arena, a cage of weapons will be unlocked and along with it absolute carnage. Will Australian Take Over be able to hold off the circling DNT and The Pulse or will their six month reign come to an end in the most brutal fashion imaginable.

it’s red hot night of action, enough so that a pale ginger gentleman like myself would start to burn after a few seconds of exposure. Get your tickets now before like seagulls snapping up hot chips, they are all gone!
