Road To WrestleMania- WWE Round-Up (12/04/2025)

We are on the road to WrestleMania! At the time I’ve started putting this together, it is Saturday evening on the 12th of April. Which means, by the time you read this, you should be a week away from the Granddaddy of Them All, the Showcase of the Immortals, WrestleMania 41 (Night 1). My name’s Robbo and I’m jumping in for the WWE Round-Up this week.

Let’s do this!

Jey Gets Serious

Since winning the Royal Rumble in January, Jey Uso has had his sights set on World Heavyweight Champion, Gunther. Things took a dramatic turn last week when the Ring General brutalised Jey’s brother Jimmy, leaving him a bloody mess as Jey watched helplessly, zip-tied to the ropes unable to stop the attack.

Because of that, Jey came out this week dressed in black, no colourful Yeet shirt, no dancing or playing to the crowd, and he discarded the Yeet sunglasses quickly in order to make eye contact with the champ. He asked Gunther if he spoke to his mother about family matters, and recalled the emotional pain of speaking to his own mother about the state Jimmy was in. He talked in a somber tone, before firing up and vowing to win the title at WrestleMania. Gunther had no rebuttal to this side of Jey, as the challenger seems more driven and determined than ever.

Heyman Owes… Seth A Favour?

With CM Punk cashing in his favour on Smackdown, taking the Wiseman from the Tribal Chief, Roman Reigns, at WrestleMania, there was a lot of drama left to be sorted through. As Paul Heyman appeared on Raw, apparently to clear things up, he was interrupted by Seth Rollins.

Rollins, who has had an axe to grind with Punk for the longest time, made the case that neither Reigns nor Punk actually cared for Heyman. Reigns went home after losing at WrestleMania 40, leaving Heyman to get powerbombed through a table at Madison Square Garden. And years ago, Punk left WWE and Heyman in the cold. So Rollins has a solution to the whole mess- just take Heyman out of the equation.

Before Rollins can do just that to Heyman, CM Punk hit the ring to brawl with Rollins. Seth dropped Punk with a Stomp, and almost did the same to Heyman- but stopped short. “Now you owe me a favour,” Rollins said. What implications could this have on WrestleMania?

Mami’s On Mania

After last week’s chaos in the title match between Rhea Ripley and Iyo Sky, where Bianca Belair served as guest referee and ruled a double DQ, Raw General Manager Adam Pearce had a messy situation to fix.

Pearce simply made the long rumoured triple threat match official, and Ripley vs. Belair vs. Sky is now signed for Mania for the Women’s World Championship. After some bickering between Ripley and Belair, Iyo nailed them both with a missile dropkick and walked away with her head held high.

Cody Gives A History Lesson

WWE Champion Cody Rhodes appeared on this week’s Smackdown to address his upcoming WrestleMania title defence against John Cena. Standing in a ring filled with different past versions of the WWE Championship, Cody talked about trying to be like past champions like “Latino Heat” and yes, John Cena, as he paused on the “spinner” championship.

Cody rebutted the notion that Cena presented, that he doesn’t know who he is. “Here’s what I do know, John, I’m the WWE Champion, and you are not!”

McIntyre & Priest Go To War

The tension between the former world champions, Drew McIntyre & Damian Priest, has reached a boiling point now that their WrestleMania match has been made official. First, McIntyre appeared to reveal that his eye- which had glass in it a couple of weeks ago- was completely recovered. Priest was quickly on the scene to throw hands, and it got violent in a hurry, with steel stairs causing severe damage!

Bayley & Lyra Run The Gauntlet

Another Mania match was made official on Smackdown, as some big names in the women’s division learned what their WrestleMania destiny would be. Former champion Bayley and current Women’s Intercontinental Champion Lyra Valkyria were tasked with an incredible challenge, forced to start the gauntlet on Smackdown, where the winners would face Liv Morgan & Raquel Rodriguez for the Women’s Tag Team Championship at WrestleMania 41.

Bayley & Lyra defeated Pure Fusion Collective, Katana & Kayden, Michin & B-Fab, Natalya & Maxxine and the Secret Hervice to punch their ticket to Mania, spanning a grueling half hour on the blue brand this week.
