All Elite Weekly – A new Dynasty? 31/03/25 – 06/04/25

Hello friends and welcome to another edition of the All Elite Weekly. I am going to try something a little bit different this week and that is not provide full recaps of matches that took place. I will however be providing the results of the shows from the week and going over some of the talking points from each show.

DYNAMITE RESULTS / TALKING POINTS

For a go home show towards a PPV, AEW have managed to pull off a decent episode this week. While the placement of matches was questionable, it all made sense by the end of the show. The idea of building Swerve throughout the show was a really good idea and it paid off at the end of the show. The segment between himself and Hangman backstage was absolute perfection in continuing their career rivalry.

Penelope Ford put on a quality match with Toni Storm even though they only had limited time. It has been great to see Ford back on my screen and a part of a big story.

We did learn that unfortunately Jay White has suffered an injury and is no longer going to be a part of the Owen Hart Tournament with Kevin Knight taking his place.

The continued teasing of the fractures between Dax Harwood, Cash Wheeler and Adam Copeland was another interesting development in the main event. Could we see a split of “the world’s greatest tag team” at Dynasty?

COLLISION RESULTS / TALKING POINTS

Collision has had some really strong episodes as of late, this however was not one of them. Unfortunately, a lot was left to be desired on this episode, and it felt like there was some things that were not hashed out properly. While saying that, the main event was definitely a step in the right direction even if I do have to question the teams.

Julia Hart being only 23 has a strong and bright future ahead of her in pro wrestling and I could easily see her being in line to be a champion again at some point. Athena finally getting to show her stuff on AEW rather than ROH is a breath of fresh air for the women’s division and helps with the development of a stronger field of contenders.

Jay White being interviewed backstage was a great segment for those who have been a supporter of his. This man has the ability to hold your attention if given the ball and I can see him working his way back to the top once he is recovered and cleared to wrestle again.

DYNASTY RESULTS / TALKING POINTS

Could history repeat itself? That was one of the big questions going into this PPV. Could Swerve Strickland finally put the old dog, Jon Moxley out to rest? Well, if you watched the show, you already know the answer. If not, then the results are below. Also, I will continue my thoughts after the final match.

Thoughts, feelings and a whole lot of what the f***s. That’s what this PPV left me with. While not the greatest PPV AEW has put on, there were some very solid matches, and I feel that they made the smart move of having Ospreay and Storm in the opening two matches on the card. Revolution’s main event suffered due to having Ospreay, Kenny and Storm in three exciting matches before the lack luster s**t show that was Mox vs Cope.

This time around we got a decent structure of the card and gave the fans inside the arena an opportunity to breathe between matches that were by far the best on the show.

One thing I felt about this PPV was the fact that some of the matches should not have been on the show because we have perfect opportunities to give them away for free on Dynamite or Collision. While I am an Ospreay fan, I feel that all the Owen Hart Tournament matches could have been saved for Dynamite or Collision this week.

Rated FTR – Not anymore. The turn of FTR was actually executed quite well. The playing of Cash being annoyed and concerned for Cope only to turn around and to be the one to initiate the Shatter Machine was simple but looked great, also him being the one to hit the Con-Chair-To was adding insult to injury. It will be interesting to see how AEW plays this out and how we get to Cope and Cage becoming a team to take on FTR.

Adam Cole finally getting a singles championship is a long time coming and something that I personally feel was the right move. Garcia’s TNT Championship run has not been good, and it feels like he has just been floundering since resigning with the company.

Even in defeat Megan Bayne looked like an absolute monster. For a woman who is still green to the American market, they did a fantastic job of maintaining her presence even though she lost. She took it to Storm and took everything that Storm could give. I believe that the story is far from over with these two and I see a rematch at Double or Nothing for sure.

ROH suffered greatly with this World Championship match. It was not a good match and the shonky as s**t finish did not help its cause either. While I am happy for Bandido that he gets to keep his mask and has the gold around his waist, it fell very flat for the presentation in the way it came about.

Holy s**t that triple threat. Speedball being given a championship shot so early into his run with the company is a hard call, but he definitely proved his worth in this one. I have to say, I loved the dynamic of the match. I love the fact that they didn’t run with the standard “babyfaces team up against the heel” scenario. This felt like a true triple threat, and it definitely delivered on the action. The story was told expertly in the ring. This was match that had a small build, but was 100% a banger.

AEW set the stage for Swerve to repeat history by winning the championship for a second time at the same PPV he won his first championship. Unfortunately for everyone who was in the arena and watching at home it was not to be. The crowd was energetic as f**k and the f**king Young Bucks screwed it all up taking out Swerve with an EVP Trigger and allowing Moxley to retain once again.

This PPV will be one that is going to be controversial in the IWC space, but all in all AEW delivers when it comes to the action on PPV.
