Immortal Moments – WWE HOF 2025

Friday Night Smackdown this week was emanating from London, England and in an unexpected moment it was announced that the WWE Hall of Fame inductions in 2025 are about to change the game.
WWE announced that various matches and moments from the WWE archives will now be eligible for induction into the Hall of Fame as a part of the brand new “Immortal Moments” wing.
This is an absolutely beautiful idea on WWE’s part and will allow for those moments that we all love and remember to be considered an even bigger part of the history of WWE. Of course, the first match or moment that was selected for induction into the Immortal Moments wing in 2025 is none other than that of the infamous double turn match from Wrestlemania 13 which saw Bret “The Hitman” Hart take on Stone Cold Steve Austin in what at the time was one of the bloodiest matches held in the WWE.
While the pairs match up at Survivor Series 1996 had already received rave reviews, the Wrestlemania 13 No DQ encounter moderated by UFC’s Ken Shamrock became an instant classic and also changed the shape of the WWE landscape forever. WWE has used the footage of Stone Cold passing out in a pool of his own blood rather than submitting to The Hitman’s trademark Sharpshooter submission hold countless times since 1997.

Few fans would disagree that this match is deserving of its spot as the first pick for this new wing inside the Hall of Fame. The match itself is still regarded as a living blueprint on how to perfectly execute the double turn trope. Nobody has ever been able to replicate it as smoothly as Austin and Hart did in 97. Hart came out of the match looking like the bitter veteran unwilling to give up his spot and get with the times, while Austin rocketed himself into the hearts of the fans as the new antihero for a generation who were ready to embrace “Attitude” to its fullest extent.
WWE also revealed that both Austin and Hart will be in attendance at the Hall of Fame ceremony on Friday April 18th. It will be interesting to hear from both men regarding their iconic match and the way it shaped their respective histories.
