Saraya leaves AEW

Former AEW Women’s World Champion – Saraya took to the internet to announce that she has parted ways with All Elite Wrestling.
Speaking to Busted Open radio, Saraya provided further explanation on her decision to part ways with the 6 year old company.
“When it came into AEW, the thing that I wanted to do was just to…help build stuff,” Saraya said. “I didn’t want to be the top dog or the face or anything. That wasn’t my…that’s not what I wanted. What I wanted to do was put girls over, if that helped them in any way. That’s all I wanted to do. And I feel like I was coming to the end of that. There wasn’t very much left I could do. I don’t think there was a place for me anymore in there.”
Saraya did express her interest in working a program with Mercedes Mone, who she said was “up for it”, but stated that Mone has storylines already planned and would essentially be unavailable before her contract was due to expire in September. Saraya also confirmed that when her contract was to expire that she would not be resigning with AEW as she wished to focus on her new book, her new podcast as well as some acting roles that are coming her way.
Saraya noted that there were no hard feelings between her and AEW owner Tony Khan and stated that the split was amicable. “He was really great,” Saraya said. “He was like…he’s been so supportive since I asked for time off in November. I’ve been gone for a minute. And I was just like ‘Well, there’s really no place for me anymore.’ So yeah, we came to that decision, and I’m happy about it. And he wished me luck and everything, and the door is always open. But yeah, it’s nice to just…it’s scary, but I’m taking…I’m exploring everything else outside of wrestling.”
While Saraya’s time is coming to an end within All Elite Wrestling, her time within the company has been marred with some controversy due to the use of her talents and what a lot of fans feel were the lack of a push for the former champion.
As part of her interview Saraya did state that Tony Khan has said that the door is always open, so this may not be the last time we see her in a wrestling ring.
