WWE Elimination Chamber 2025- Top 5 Moments

Prior to the 2025 Elimination Chamber PLE, Chief Content Officer Paul ‘Triple H’ Levesque took to social media to say that this would be “an industry-changing weekend”. While, as essentially the top man in WWE, Levesque’s words could be put down to simply promoter hype, it turns out that The Game might’ve been on to something with that statement.

I love the Elimination Chamber. The inaugural match at Survivor Series 2002 is one of my all-time favourite matches, I played the match type endlessly on every WWE game (starting with Here Comes The Pain on PS2), and I had the unforgettable experience of sitting 3rd row last year in Perth for a pair of top-notch Chamber matches. I even got to step inside the Elimination Chamber structure itself at Axxess many years ago! So, with all that Chamber history for ya boi Robbo, and a stacked line-up featuring the likes of The Rock, John Cena, and Trish Stratus (insert heart eyes emoji here), I was absolutely buzzing with anticipation for this event.

And oh boy. We have a lot to talk about. As the dust continues to settle, let’s look at my Top 5 Moments from Elimination Chamber!

Number 5- The Return of Jade Cargill

I think many predicted this one, but it was still extremely nice to see Jade Cargill return to WWE screens. Based on Triple H’s comments in the post show press conference, she was dealing with a legitimate injury and her status was uncertain in regards to when she would be cleared for action, hence the somewhat strange progression of her storyline with the mystery attacker.

As Liv Morgan & Raquel Rodriguez were cited as suspects in recent weeks, with footage showing them in the vicinity when Jade was attacked, it was assumed that the former TBS Champion was making a beeline for Morgan. Luckily, the referees were slow in shutting the door with Naomi and Liv Morgan set to start the women’s Chamber match, with Jade storming in… and immediately unleashing a thunderous attack on Naomi! Cargill beat the hell out of Naomi, rendering her unable to compete in the Chamber, as Naomi’s current tag partner (and Jade’s former partner) Bianca cried in confusion and despair from her Chamber pod. Did the EST have any knowledge- or involvement- in the attack on Jade? Who knows…

Number 4- Owens & Zayn Provide Some Canadian Hospitality

Expectations were high when this Unsanctioned Match was booked between Owens and Zayn, given their immense amount of history together. And I truly appreciate this era of WWE, which acknowledges a wrestling world outside their bubble. I’ve heard it before, but hearing Michael Cole utter the names “El Generico” and “Kevin Steen” on WWE television is still a little surreal.

And damn. While they didn’t turn their brawl in a bloody gore-fest (the reasons for why becoming apparent later in the night), they still absolutely delivered with their intensity and some gnarly bumps, including Sami flipping off the top rope through a stack of tables, Owens going head-first through an already mangled steel chair on a half-and-half suplex, and both men feeling the effects of a barbed wire steel chair. The commentary team greatly added to this, pleading for the match to be stopped at various points, as the crowd gasped and squirmed at the amount of damage these two long-time friends were willing to put each other through.

Number 3- The Apex Predator Is Back!

No time to rest and catch our breath after the violence of the Unsanctioned Match! With an unhinged Kevin Owens exposing the concrete- perhaps looking to hit his bestie with a package piledriver on it after he already won the battle- he was interrupted by the music of Randy Orton!

For the first time since Owens put him on the shelf with that aforementioned package piledriver, we saw the Viper, the Apex Predator, the Legend Killer, looking in fantastic shape! He quickly dropped KO with the RKO, and looked to up the ante with a steel chair. But when Orton hears voices in his head, and he goes to a certain place… he IS a weapon. He tossed the chair aside and lined up for THE PUNT (with a P, miss), and finally the security guards did their jobs and stepped in, only to promptly take RKOs for their troubles. Happy days!

Number 2: Cena & Punk Recapture Their Magic

This year’s Men’s Elimination Chamber was especially star-studded, featuring all former world champions, with the exception of cross-over celebrity star Logan Paul. Of all the names in the field, arguably the biggest were John Cena and CM Punk. When the two old rivals finally came face to face in the Chamber.. it was electric.

To me, it was the most energised Cena’s looked in-ring since he won the WWE Championship from AJ Styles. And yes, I’m aware how long ago that was. Cena and Punk’s undeniable chemistry shone through, hitting some of their biggest moves and countering others. In a match chock-filled with major stars, exhilarating action and jaw-dropping moments, seeing Cena & Punk roll back the years to 2011 was a particular highlight for me.

Number 1: The Rock Gets His Champion?

Right after John Cena won the Chamber- a major moment in itself where Punk passed out to the STF after a vengeful Seth Rollins got involved- we wasted no time as the WWE Champion’s music hit. ADRENALINE IN HIS SOUL… but wait, will the Final Boss take his soul?

The Rock came out with his usual epic entrance, this time accompanied by rapper Travis Scott. Weird that he’s here, but whatever. Rock wants Cody to be HIS Champion, and he wants Cody’s soul… whatever that means.

Rock promises Cody the world, he can have it all! Cody does indeed want it all, but he gave his soul to wrestling and to the people long ago. And just in case there was any ambiguity or confusion as to whether Cody was refusing the offer- the emphatic line of “Rock, go f*** yourself!” made it crystal clear. Zero censorship too. With Travis hanging around smoking a joint, those people that want the Attitude Era back should be as happy as Randy Marsh sitting in his computer chair.

Cena-who remained in the ring throughout all of this- cheers Cody on and hugs him. Then it happened.

Behind Cody’s back, Cena turned stone-faced as The Rock gives the same throat-slash signal he gave at Bad Blood last year. Cena then kicks Cody in the balls and beats the shit out of him, with help from Rock and Travis Scott actually gets involved, slapping Rhodes!

It finally happened. Cena turned heel.

This opens up a world of possibilities for both WrestleMania and the rest of 2025. With the win in the Chamber match, John Cena secured his shot at a 17th world title against Cody Rhodes- a marquee match that would’ve been fine as a big babyface vs. babyface encounter. There’s precedent for it at WrestleMania with matches like Hogan vs. Warrior, Batista vs. Undertaker, Cena vs. Michaels… even the acclaimed series of Streak matches with HHH/HBK/Taker didn’t have a clear cut heel involved.

But now? Cena’s entire retirement run changes. Instead of being a greatest hits, smiling, shaking hands, kissing babies tour… we have a new, evil, possibly desperate Cena. For years, since he lost the WWE Championship at the Elimination Chamber back in 2017, just a couple of weeks after winning it at the Rumble, it’s been loss after loss. To the Undertaker. To The Fiend. To Roman Reigns. To Austin Theory. To Solo Sikoa. You could even make the argument that he lost in his personal life- after making the big, grand WrestleMania 33 proposal to Nikki Bella… their relationship fell apart. Even Cena’s hair left him!

Cena is yet to explain his character motivation, turning up to the post-show press conference, but instead of answering the questions he just dropped the mic and walked away. The above is just my own interpretation. Whatever Cena eventually does offer us in terms of an explanation, in terms of aligning with the Final Boss… it’s a million times more interesting than “gee golly gosh, I hope everyone has a good time, it’s so good to have one last match in [insert city here]!”

One of the biggest moments ever. One that many fans thought would never happen. That the ship had sailed. But here we are.
