Aussies Abroad: Zaria and Shazza dominate international rings

Welcome back to another week’s Aussies Abroad, where we take a look at the locals making waves in the overseas world of pro wrestling.
This week’s coverage will be a little shorter than usual due to AEW’s Aussie debut, with many of the local talent we usually report on getting their time to shine back on home land.
Let’s start things off with the latest news from Adelaide superstar Zaria, who completely annihilated Nikkita Lyons last week in Florida. The match started with a classic exchange of strength between the two beefy women before Zaria took control of things. Despite Lyons bringing a tough fight to the ring, it was no match for Zaria’s pure power. Lyon’s agility still proved itself tough for Zaria to overcome but was quickly met with a German suplex, and it was eventually an iconic spear followed by an F5 by Zaria to pick up an easy win.
Also on NXT, Grayson Waller lost his momentum once again when he, along with his buddy Austin Theory was brutalised by Oba Femi in an NXT title match. The three-way match also saw some interesting moments between Waller and his long-term partner Theory despite their best efforts to work as a team against Femi. Femi’s pure size and strength were unfortunately no match for the two though, despite Waller bringing his best efforts to the ring including sending himself off the top rope and down into a table where Femi lay. Some further miscommunication between Waller and Theory didn’t help, and it was eventually a move from Waller that saw Theory miss out on the title spot. Will this be the downfall of A-Town Downunder?
Also over in the US, Aussie favourite Shazza McKenzie has continued her world domination with a match against Maggie Lee, Blair Onyx, and Tootie Lynn with Glory Pro Wrestling. The match followed a huge win McKenzie picked up with PWA Robin Casper Memorial Tournament’s first round in Illinois a few days earlier against Raven Black. Although she wasn’t able to qualify past the semi-finals, it’s clear that McKenzie continues to be a dominating Aussie force in wrestling rings across the world.
Speaking of, Adelaide’s Kira Summer has continued her time with TJPW in Japan with a number of impressive matches throughout the week. Although the Aussie doesn’t seem to be on a winning streak, it’s amazing to see another Adelaide talent bring the heat internationally.
-Till next week!
