AEW Grand Slam Australia Was Third Highest Gate In Company History

This past weekend, All Elite Wrestling made its long-awaited debut in Australia with AEW Grandslam Australia. The stacked card featured marquee names such as Kenny Omega, Will Ospreay, and The Rated-R Superstar Cope, while Australia’s own Toni Storm challenged for the AEW Women’s Championship.
This historic event for both AEW and Australian wrestling proved to be a major success, with Grandslam Australia becoming AEW’s third-highest-grossing live gate. Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer noted: “This was the third-biggest gate in the history of the company. I didn’t get the final number, but by Thursday—two days before the event—they had already surpassed $1.3 million. For AEW, that’s fantastic.”
Originally, the show was advertised to take place at Suncorp Stadium, but AEW later announced a venue change to the Brisbane Entertainment Arena, which has a capacity of around 11,000 in tiered seating. Despite the shift, as well as criticism and speculation from fans on social media, the event was ultimately a resounding success.
Following the event, AEW confirmed its plans to return to Australia in 2026, though specific details regarding the location and venue have yet to be announced. Meltzer shared his thoughts on AEW’s next move: “It should be Melbourne or Sydney when they return in 2026. They’ll draw better in those cities. If they run Rod Laver Arena, for example, and given that they’ll be more established by then, I think they could get at least 15,000 people and generate a significant gate.”
