“Showtime” vs. “The King”: A Clash of Legends at Reshuffling the Deck
In an announcement that has sent shockwaves through the industry, two of Queensland’s most accomplished and beloved competitors, “Showtime” Jake Nova and “The King” Tim Kade, are set to face off in a 2-out-of-3 falls match at Venom Pro Wrestling’s upcoming event, Reshuffling the Deck. For fans of QLD professional wrestling, this is a collision of two competitors whose legacies in the sport are undeniable.
Both men are returning to the ring after significant hiatuses, and the stakes couldn’t be higher for the two longtime rivals.
It’s “Showtime”, folks! For ONE NIGHT ONLY, “Showtime” Jake Nova returns.
Known for his explosive style and larger-than-life presence, Jake Nova has been a standout figure in the Australian wrestling scene for over a decade. Standing at 5’10” and weighing in at 185 pounds, Nova has built a reputation on his dynamic in-ring skills, which include his signature moves, the Calf Killer, the Superkick, and the high-flying Swanton Bomb. Nova’s ability to mix agility, speed, and precision has made him a fan favorite wherever he goes.
The former record reigning AWA Champion, Nova’s career has seen him face some of the biggest names in wrestling, including a memorable encounter with then-IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion, and global megastar, Will Ospreay at Venom Pro Wrestling’s Jumping the Shark event in 2018. That bout, which is available on VPW’s YouTube channel, showcased Nova’s ability to hang with the very best in the business. His last match, a thrilling 2023 match against Moko at the Heavyweight House Party, proved that even in his later years, Nova remains one of the most exciting and relevant performers in Australian wrestling.
For Nova, this ONE NIGHT ONLY return is about reaffirming his place in the lore of the industry. Having been associated with major promotions like Australian Wrestling Alliance, Pro Wrestling League, Venom Pro Wrestling, and many others, Nova’s return brings a sense of anticipation and excitement to the wrestling community. The man known as “Showtime” is poised to deliver a performance that reminds everyone of his undeniable talent and veteran in-ring brilliance.
Tim Kade: It’s Good to be The King.
On the opposite side of the ring stands “The King” Tim Kade, a name synonymous with VPW and QLD wrestling excellence. For more than two decades, Kade has been at the forefront of the local scene. Known for his unrelenting toughness and diverse skill set, Kade has earned the title “The King” through consistency and sheer dominance in the ring. Standing at 5’6” and weighing 176 lbs, Kade may not be the tallest or heaviest competitor, but he makes up for it with unmatched intensity and a varied arsenal, including his signature F5, 450 Splash, and Crooked Smile.
A former 2x VPW Heavyweight Champion, Kade’s career is a testament to his consistency and excellence. He has competed across Australia and internationally, including notable appearances with Singapore Pro Wrestling and Michinoku Pro Wrestling. His battles with some of the most respected wrestlers in the business have become the stuff of legend.
Kade’s last match before his retirement came in October 2021 at High Voltage 5, where he competed against B Lars in a match that would close the book on a decorated career. However, in a surprise announcement, Kade revealed that he would be coming out of retirement to face Jake Nova in a match that could go down as one of the biggest of the year. The ticket rush, and venue changes, following the announcement of this match would certainly suggest a high likelihood of this being the case.
There’s no telling what will happen when Jake Nova and Tim Kade revisit a lauded history, and lock horns in what promises to be an unforgettable clash.
Don’t miss out on this epic showdown! Be sure to attend Venom Pro Wrestling’s Reshuffling the Deck and witness history in the making. The return of two legends, and rivals, battling for supremacy in one of the most anticipated wrestling contests so far this year.
