All Elite Weekly – Homecoming 20/01/25 – 26/01/25

Hello friends and welcome to another All Elite Weekly. This week we bore witness to some exciting moments from the 6-year-old company which felt like somewhat a restoration of sorts. Let’s dive in.

DYNAMITE

Live from Knoxville, TN we are welcomed to the show by Excalibur and Taz on commentary with Tony Schiavone in the ring.

RESULTS

AEW Tag Team Championship – Private Party (c) vs Hurt Syndicate

A couple of quick tags by the HS early but a Silly String by PP brings in Quen. Neckbreaker and Swanton combo by PP only gets a one count. Double jump stunner by Kassidy to Lashley over the ropes and a double suicide dive on the outside but PP end up getting caught and transitioned into a pair of over the head belly to belly suplexes. Lashley hits a Spinbuster on Kassidy through the announce table. End of the match sees Lashley hit a spear on Kassidy for the win.

Winners and new AEW Tag Team Champions – Hurt Syndicate

Swerve Strickland vs A.R. Fox

A renewal of their old rivalry here. Both men trade off suplex attempts with Fox finding himself on the apron and eventually the floor, as Swerve moonsaults off the apron. Back in the ring and Fox catches Swerve with a kick to the elbow. We get a solid match out of these two men; however, Ricochet makes his presence felt and tries to stab Swerve with the scissors once again. Prince Nana chases Ricochet to the back with a lead pipe. Fox manages a Helluva Kick on Swerve followed by the Lo Mein Pain and only a two count. Swerve gets a Rolling Thunder Flatliner on Fox and then the House Call, Swerve Stomp for the three count.

Winner – Swerve Strickland

Hangman Page vs Tyler Shoop

A super quick squash match here. Lariat and a three count and we are done.

Winner – Hangman Page

Julia Hart vs Jamie Hayter 2

In the second of their battles, each lady decided to bring their game to the ring. The fight spilled to the outside quickly with Hayter throwing Hart into the barricades and LED boards. Hayter has the upper edge on Hart throughout this match leading to a Hayterbreaker and Hayterade for the win

Winner – Jamie Hayter

PAC vs Cope

Cope is dominating right from the start of this one and even involves the use of the steps in his arsenal. The fight stays on the outside of the ring for a bit with both men exchanging blows and holding the advantage over the other. At one stage Cope is caught in the Brutalizer but manages to get out of it. PAC attempts a deadlift German suplex but Cope manages to avoid it. PAC superkicks Cope in the back of the neck and locks in the Brutalizer once again only for Cope to power out and hit an Air Raid Crash, Spear to the back, and a TKO as PAC turns around.

Winner – Cope

MY THOUGHTS

The opening segment of this show was perfect for what they have planned when coming to Australia. It gave the show a great start and made it feel like the whole show would live up to the opening. It was a great return to form for AEW and highlighting Kenny and Will as your top stars is definitely the right move for AEW. The part I found as a letdown was the segment involving the Death Riders. I get that they are trying to build a story for it, but it just feels a bit sameish every time.

COLLISION

We are live in Daily’s Place, FL and our commentary team for tonight consists of Nigel McGuiness, Tony Schiavone and Jim Ross.

RESULTS

Nick Wayne vs Samoa Joe

We are kicking off the action with Joe looking to dismantle the youngest member of the Patriarchy. Hook and Shibata are out at ringside to even the odds for Joe, but Joe doesn’t really need it as he dominated Wayne for most of the match.

Winner – Samoa Joe

Kazuchika Okada vs Komander

Komander put in a fair effort against the former IWGP World Champion. The two men could definitely deliver a match of the night quality match if given more time to do so as Komander’s style actually compliments Okada in a strange way. Komander ducks the first attempt at the Rainmaker from Okada only to hit a springboard hurricarana. Okada finishes off the match with the Rainmaker.

Winner – Kazuchika Okada

Trios Match – Undisputed Kingdom vs 2.0 and Daniel Garcia

Angelo Parker is back with his boys and unfortunately, he is showing some signs of ring rust which is to be expected. We get a decent back and forth allowing all members to show off some of their skills in the ring. Matt Menard is back in fine fashion when he tells the crowd to “Suck my ass”. The UK are showing why they want to be considered as the number one trios team in this match.

Winners – Undisputed Kingdom

Hounds of Hell vs Gates of Agony

A new theme, a new entrance video, same old dominance from King and Matthews. King and Toa start the match by just laying into each other. We get some quick tags and hard chops by GOA before King fires back and dumps Kaun. It’s a solid showcase of meat on display in this one and the ending comes with a combo of a sliding dropkick and cannonball to Toa.

Winners – Hounds of Hell

AEW TBS Championship Number One Contenders Match – Serena Deeb vs Deonna Purrazzo vs Yuka Sakazaki vs Queen Aminata

Deonna hangs outside of the ring while the other three ladies trade roll ups. Once Deonna gets back into the ring, she is met with a rolling elbow from Aminata. Harley Cameron arrives at one point in the match to try and cost Deonna, but Deonna hits her with a superkick. Yuka is powerbombed by Deonna only for Yuka to counter the pin into a cradle for the win.

Winner and Number One Contender – Yuka Sakazaki

AEW International Championship – Konosuke Takeshita (c) vs Katsuyori Shibata

The match quickly spills to the outside as Shibata punts Takeshita in the face. Shibata sits Takeshita down on a chair and boots him off it. A real showcase of the Strong Style that Japanese wrestlers are known for was on display throughout this one. Shibata took it to Takeshita and Takeshita took it right back to Shibata. Ultimately Takeshita got his Falcon Arrow on Shibata for the win.

Winner and still AEW International Champion – Konosuke Takeshita

MY THOUGHTS

The Mariah May / Toni Storm segment was absolute gold. That moment where Toni got on the microphone had me excited and I was on the edge of my seat for the reveal. I think that AEW and Toni pulled off the perfect surprise for this as a lot of people were not expecting it to happen on something like Collision. This episode of Collision was stacked with quality matches also and gave a solid showing to all the talent that didn’t get a chance to show on Dynamite. The only match that really felt out of place was the TBS contenders match as there wasn’t really a build to it.
