All Elite Weekly 2/12/24 – 7/12/24
Hello friends and welcome to yet another week of recapping the events happening in All Elite Wrestling. This week we saw the continuation of the C2 as well as learning who is stepping up to Mox and his crew.
DYNAMITE
RESULTS
We are live from the Fishers Event Center in Fishers Indiana tonight and joining us in the commentary position tonight is Tony Schiavone, Excalibur and Matt Menard.
C2 Blue League – Shelton Benjamin vs Kyle Fletcher – Benjamin and Fletcher facing off this early into Benjamin’s run within AEW feels like a misstep. While that have may been the case, the work rate between these two gentlemen shows why AEW has invested in both of them. Fletcher is definitely feeling the heat from the crowd after turning his back on Ospreay and the crowd in Indiana are no exception to letting him know.
Winner – Kyle Fletcher
Dynamite Dozen Battle Royal – Last 2 will face off at Winter Is Coming – The unfortunate thing that stifled this battle royal was the fact that everyone knew who was going to walk out of the match as the final two.
Winners – Kyle O’Reilly and Adam Cole
Max Caster vs Swerve Strickland – Strickland delighted in making Caster his little bitch in this one. It was over and done with pretty quickly.
Winner – Swerve Strickland
PAC vs Jay White – A quality match between these two. PAC has really embraced the asshole role being a part of the DeathRiders crew and it actually suits him. White really begun to show what took him to the top in NJPW and this definitely gave us a glimpse of what we can expect in the future from him. Of course, Yuta had to make his presence known at ringside.
Winner – PAC
Anna Jay vs Penelope Ford – Jay is looking to establish her name in the women’s division and she has definitely been putting the work in. If given more time for their match, this could have possibly been a lot better than what it was.
Winner – Anna Jay
C2 Gold League – Brody King vs Claudio Castagnoli – A battle of the big men is our main event and boy did this deliver. Brody has really come into his own over the past few months and the C2 is a great place for him to showcase that he is not just a brute force style wrestler. Claudio is no slouch either. If AEW decides to split him from DeathRiders down the line and give him a singles push, the people will definitely get behind him.
Winner – Claudio Castagnoli
My opinion – There were a few things in this episode that I personally would have changed, but overall, I think that AEW is beginning to find itself again and is trying to give us interesting things to watch. The DeathRiders segment has garnered growth across the roster and there is a possibility of a strange bedfellows teaming to come out of it which can only help. I am liking the dynamic behind the World Championship scene, and it is great to see that there are people stepping up to the challenge. I also appreciate that AEW is now experimenting with video packages for returns. It will help people get hyped for the returns.
RAMPAGE
RESULTS
We are back at the Fishers Event Center and tonight on commentary is Tony Schiavone, Matt Menard, Excalibur and ROH World Champion Chris Jericho
C2 Blue League – Mark Briscoe vs Kazuchika Okada – Learning from his previous mistake, Okada definitely came into this match cooler and calmer. However, Briscoe did make him work for it. A great opening match for Rampage.
Winner – Kazuchika Okada
C2 Blue League – The Beast Mortos vs Daniel Garcia – Mortos seems to be enjoying his run in AEW and the fans seem to like what they are seeing from him. We got a decent length to this match with a back-and-forth battle between the two. Garcia shows his wrestling acumen within this match which leads him to success.
Winner – Daniel Garcia
The Vendetta vs Elle Elizabeth & Freya States – This match was very short. We did not see an entrance for either team. The Vendetta completely dominated this one.
Winner The Vendetta
C2 Gold League – Ricochet vs Komander – Komander has replaced an injured Juice Robinson in the C2 and it was a great decision by TK for him to be the choice. Ricochet and Komander worked very well together in the ring, and this was a match for those who enjoy the high-flying style of professional wrestling.
Winner – Ricochet
My opinion – Rampage this week was the most stacked with regards to top talent that it has been for a long time. The inclusion of the C2 matches were an interesting addition to the show and definitely gave it a good vibe.
COLLISION
RESULTS
Tonight the GalaxyCon at the Greater Colombus Convention Center in Colombus is our home for Collision with Tony Schiavone, Matt Menard and Nigel McGuiness on commentary.
C2 Gold League – Darby Allin vs Komander – Darby took a lot of unnecessary damage during this match. At one point he ended up through a chair which was setup on the outside of the ring. Komander and Darby do have a good chemistry when working together and their styles complement each other.
Winner – Darby Allin
Women’s Cup Qualifier – Willow Nightingale vs Serena Deeb – A good match out of these two ladies. Deeb is wearing her new shirt which reads “Nobody Cares” with an arrow pointing up, it is believed that this an inside reference to the other week when she came out to confront Britt Baker on Dynamite.
Winner – Willow Nightingale
C2 Blue League – Kyle Fletcher vs Kazuchika Okada – Both men trade holds and pin attempts early, but Okada is not here to mess around and boots Fletcher in the face. A few times throughout the match we get some action on the outside of the ring, even at one point where it was thought that Okada may not be able to break the 10 count. Okada attempts the RAINMAKER a few times but doesn’t get them to land. Fletcher low blows Okada and hits the sheerdrop brain buster and secures his position on top of the C2.
Winner – Kyle Fletcher
Aaron Solo vs The Beast Mortos – The match was pretty much over just after it begun. A squash match for sure.
Winner – The Beast Mortos
Emi Sakura vs Mina Shirakawa – A rough match here. I don’t mean in the physical sense either. This one was not fantastic. There really wasn’t too much chemistry here. It felt like this was supposed to be a showcase for Mina, but it unfortunately missed the mark
Winner – Mina Shirakawa
C2 Blue League – Mark Briscoe vs Daniel Garcia – Match of the night by far. This was two friends being given the opportunity to show why they here. An absolute showing by Garcia and Briscoe to round out the show and was worthy of the main event slot. Legitimately there were times when I was not sure on which way it would go.
Winner – Mark Briscoe
My Opinion – A highlight to this show is the smaller crowd. It made the action feel like the crowd was happy to be there. The C2 has been really interesting, and I love that AEW have gone all in on Kyle Fletcher being a heel. I believe it was the right move and his showing in the C2 so far has been outstanding because of it. It was also great to see some of the upper card roster members finally getting involved in the DeathRiders story.
Another week down and AEW is trying it’s best to establish itself once again. The smaller venue for Collision helped the optics of the product and it also made it feel like the crowd was hyped for the show. I believe that in 2025 if they continue to book smaller venues for the weekly shows and save the bigger venues for major events, then AEW will find its footing and be able to retrieve some of the fans it has lost over the past few years.
