Aussies Abroad: South Aus powerhouse duo dominate WarGames
Welcome to another week’s Aussies Abroad, where we take a look at the Aussies kicking ass in the overseas world of pro wrestling.
Let’s start this week’s coverage off with the massive win from Adelaide star Rhea Ripley at this year’s WarGames. The conflict between the current Women’s Champion, Liv Morgan and Ripley came to another boiling point over the weekend, when they each lead both of their teams in the epic Survivor Series battle. The matchup between the two teams made for some impressive spots for Ripely, including some expected but painful-looking hits to Morgan and picking up an eventual win for her team. Ripley dropped Morgan from the top rope with a riptide through a table to get the easy three-count. What a great finish for a great match! Despite WWE’s interesting booking and rushed storytelling, our Adl girl still bought the house down and was easily one of the highlights of the night.
Another highlight of this year’s WarGames was fellow South Aussie Bronson Reed’s presence in the men’s main event match of the night. Reed, along with his newly found partners of the new Bloodline, went head to head with the ‘OG Bloodline’, along with CM Punk. As expected, Reed bought the heat with this match, landing some impressive hits, including a failed, but still epic tsunami that almost put Roman Reigns through a table. Unfortunately, things didn’t quiet go to plan for Reed’s team, and they were unable to pick up the win.
Over in AEW, young Aussie icon Kyle Fletcher made another appearance at Collision following his massive win last month against old friend Will Ospreay. Fletcher went head to head with Beast Mortos in what was a hard-hitting and impressive matchup. Although Fletcher bought the heat, the Beast was still able to get some hard hits in on the Aussie, but it wasn’t enough to keep Fletcher down. It was eventually a sheer drop brainbuster that sent the Beast down for an easy three-count win for Fletcher. Fletcher now has three victories to lead in the Continental Classic Blue League.
Over in Japan, Aussie Chris Vice has been working with PWZero1 with its Tochigi Pro-Wrestling Kamimaru Big Harvest Festival. Although the TMDK team weren’t able to pick up the wins, it’s impressive to see the Aussie talent continue to take over the Japanese scene. Shane Haste also represented the TMDK team recently at NJPW’s World Tag League, but was unable to pick up the win.
Speaking of dominating the overseas scene, Adelaide star Kira Summer has been continuing her work with TJPW, with a recent match again Moka Miyamoto. The match comes after her impressive work with the Next Generation Tournament, where she just narrowly missed advancing through the semi-finals.
Till next week!
