Samantha Irvin breaks hearts
Discussing where she will go after her WWE life.
Much to the shock of many wrestling fans, Samantha Irvin announced her departure from World Wrestling Entertainment just hours before Monday Night Raw’s October 22nd edition.
It’s been just over a week now since her announcement and the collective internet has had a multitude of mixed feelings regarding Samantha’s decision to leave WWE.
Most people were initially in shock when the announcement was first made, some wished her well in her future, others blamed Ricochet; and others went the whole hog blaming Tony Khan for her decision to leave.
As the proverbial dust began to settle on her decision to move on from the job which brought a lot of joy to the fans, there was a ground swell of negative backlash with many people on X suggesting that she was going to join All Elite Wrestling.
In his What Happened When podcast, Tony Schiavone addressed the potential of Samantha joining the young company. “We already got the best ring announcer in the world with Justin Roberts,” Schiavone said. “And Arkady Aura is a great ring announcer, who’s a great person and is doing a great job. [Samantha Irvin] ain’t coming here. I wouldn’t think. And of course I’ve been wrong so many times but why would we?”
Later in the week, Samantha would break her silence on the situation after witnessing the online discourse regarding her decision. In taking to X she stated that she didn’t hate announcing, however if she had stayed within the company, that was the only role the management had ever considered for her.
All in all, it has been a wild week on X for Samantha and her partner Ricochet as they keep receiving a barrage of posts from online trolls.
My personal opinion on the matter? Well, I say congratulations to Samantha for having the guts to make the choice to leave a position that she did not feel fulfilled in. It’s always a hard decision to make especially when the financial side of things are good, but ultimately it is her choice, and I respect it.
