Tuesday Morning RAW September 3rd
RAW: 03/09/2024
Channel: Foxtel WWE Channel/Kayo/Binge
Coming fresh off of Bash in Berlin a new commentary team of Wade Barrett and newest WWE member Joe Tessitore Raw was set to have a good show. This week had another two rounds of the Intercontinental Championship Number 1 Contenders Tournament and American Made making a statement to Alpha Academy and the Wyatt Sicks. We also see the fallout from Bash in Berlin with more Terror Twins versus Judgement Day action and Gunther’s next challenger.
Monday Night Mami
This week’s Raw would begin with Rhea Ripley welcoming us to Monday Night Mami as she would talk about the Terror Twins’ wins over Liv Morgan and Dominic Mysterio. Rhea would mention that she pinned the Women’s World Championship so she should have her rematch for the title she never lost. Dominic Mysterio would come out after hearing this and through the many boos Dom managed to say that he was accepting the challenge on behalf of Liv. Rhea would tell Dom to deliver a message to Liv that she would be ready anywhere anytime when Liv would come out and attack Rhea from behind. During the attack, Rhea would get her leg caught in the ropes, allowing Liv and Dom a free chance to hurt her even more. Damian Priest wouldn’t stand around and watch as he would come out and save Rhea. This segment leaves a question if Rhea will be able to regain her gold as from this segment and the possible injury it looks as though Liv may be able to retain at their inevitable rematch.
American Made VS Alpha Academy
After a pep talk from coach Chad Gable, American Made was ready to go out and get a win under their belt after their losses to the Wyatt Sicks. Alpha Academy would make their way out to face them in a 6-person mixed tag match as these two teams would once again put on a great match. American Made would win the match after Chad Gable prevented Maxxine Dupri from hitting the Caterpillar, allowing Ivy Nile to take advantage and submit Maxxine. Gable would use this opportunity to call out the Wyatt Sicks and challenge them to an 8-person tag team street fight to end their feud once and for all. Uncle Howdy would come out on the Ramp and accept the challenge for next week in a match that is sure to be incredible and chaotic as we also see the end of a great feud.
CM Punk celebrates too early
CM Punk was on a high after he defeated Drew McIntyre in a strap match at Bash in Berlin where took back his bracelet. He would then ask about somebody else who also had a challenging match over the weekend in Gunther as he would challenge Gunther to a championship match. Punk would start to celebrate and stand on the commentary table to look over the crown when Drew McIntyre would drag Punk down the table and take him out. Wade Barrett would try and calm Drew down and talk him out of it only to be ignored as Drew would Claymore CM Punk. Again, Drew McIntyre would ignore the warnings from Barrett as he dragged Punk into the ring and hit him with another Claymore. McIntyre would use this opportunity to take back the bracelet only to tear it into pieces and rub it in the face of CM Punk and follow it up by hitting Punk with another Claymore. Security would finally come, and escort Drew out of the ring so they could take out Punk on a stretcher only for Drew to attack Punk one more time while he was being taken out of the arena. Drew is filled with so much hate making the third and final match between these two even more anticipated as it looks as though it will be some kind of extreme match such as Hell in a Cell.
Intercontinental Championship Number 1 Contenders Tournament
The first match of the tournament would be between Dominic Mysterio, Dragon Lee, and Ilja Dragunov. Halfway through this match, Carlito would come out to attack Dragon Lee after LWO and Judgement Day’s face-off last week but Damian Priest would come out to help and take out Carlito. Dom would try and take out Priest who was not having it as Priest chased Dom out of the arena and out of the match leaving Dragunov and Lee to face off 1 on 1. Ilja Dragunov would win the match as Dragon Lee and Ilja would show respect to each other post-match. In the second tournament match of the show Sheamus, Ludwig Kaiser, and Braun Strowman would face off with Strowman replacing Bronson Reed who wasn’t medically cleared to compete due to having Covid-19. Braun Strowman would pick up the win here as Sheamus would get taken out by Pete Dunne once again and Strowman would take out Kaiser who was distracted by Sheamus. The tournament will move on next week to a match between Jey Uso, Pete Dunne, Ilja Dragunov, and Braun Strowman next week and considering Bron Breakker is only concerned about Jey Uso it is clear who the winner of the match will be.
Sami Zayn challenges Gunther
Gunther would come out to celebrate his victory against what he called the best version of Randy Orton at Bash in Berlin. At this Gunther’s next possible challenger, Sami Zayn would come out and talk about all the legends who had previously held the Intercontinental Championship and used it as a stepping stone to elevate themselves to the World Heavyweight Championship. Sami said he wants to follow in their and Gunther’s footsteps and chase after the world title only for Gunther to tell him no. Gunther begins to leave only for Sami to stop him and ask why Gunther has accepted every other challenger who has faced him except for him. Sami would then say that maybe it’s because he is the only person in the main roster of the WWE to ever defeat him, and so no matter what Sami Zayn will be chasing after him and his title. This was an interesting segment, but this feels a little like another world title match that Sami Zayn will unfortunately not be able to win.
Other Highlights:
- Shayna Baszler defeats Zelina Vega and Lyra Valkyria and the rest of Raw would learn not to mess with Pure Fusion Collective
- Alba Fyre and Isla Dawn defeat Damage CTRL in a number 1 contenders match for the Women’s Tag Team Championships.
Damian Priest and Jey Uso vs JD McDonough and Finn Balor
Damian looking for some revenge against the Judgement Day after what happened to Rhea earlier in the show would find himself tagging with Rhea’s new friend Jey Uso. The pair would go toe to toe with the World Tag Team Champions JD McDonough and Finn Balor who were using some dirty tactics throughout the match to try and gain an advantage. Jey Uso however would find himself in a position to hit the Uso Splash only for Liv Morgan to take him out onto the top rope which allowed the Judgement Day to have a winning chance that Priest was able to break. At this Rhea Ripley’s music would play only for her to come limping out on crutches after what happened earlier. To Liv’s mistake, she would laugh and mock Rhea only for Rhea to swing the crutch at Liv and hop after her. Priest and Uso would have the momentum after this as Priest would Razor’s Edge JD McDonough and tag Jey in for the Uso splash as the Tag Champs would lose once again. Seeing Jey Yeet with Damian and Rhea was fun to see but this match leaves the tag titles in question while also progressing the terror twins and Judgement Day feud.
Once again Raw has put on a great show with lots of story progression as the WWE now looks towards Bad Blood which will be taking place on the 6th of October in Australia. This week had great story progression across the board with American Made and the Wyatt Sicks set to have their final match next week and future title matches being set. Next week’s Raw is once again set to be big with the final in the Intercontinental Championship tournament taking place and we get to see where CM Punk and Drew McIntyre’s feud is heading.
