Tuesday Morning RAW 27th of August

The RAW before Bash in Berlin was a great show with every segment having some kind of story progression. Judgement Day stirs a new enemy in the LWO, while the Terror Twins are still looking to get revenge against them. There were also some great matches with the Intercontinental Championship number 1 contender qualifying matches, Braun Strowman VS Bronson Reed and the Debut of Uncle Howdy VS Chad Gable.
LWO Confront The Judgement Day
This week’s showing of RAW would begin with The Judgement Day claiming that Rhea and Damian are the true bad guys of their story as they betrayed The Judgement Day and so they got what they deserved. Dom would then announce that he will be competing in the Intercontinental Championship number 1 contender tournament which would lure out the returning Latino World Order. Rey Mysterio would confront his son telling him that someone needs to put him in his place and how he doesn’t approve of Liv as she has somehow made Dom an even bigger jackass. The interaction would lead to a brawl between the LWO and The Judgement Day setting up an 8-man tag match.
Judgement Day VS LWO
The LWO would perform well during this match as Joaquin Wilde would use his signature springboard move onto the Judgement Day and the LWO would all work together to dive out of the ring onto Judgement Day members at the same time. This would set Rey up to hit Dominic Mysterio with a 619 but as Rey was going for a frog splash to finish Dom, Finn Balor distracted the referee allowing Liv Morgan to pull Dom out of the way allowing Dom to get a roll-up pin over Rey. A brawl would soon break out after the match as The Judgement Day would set Rey up to go through a table until the Terror Twins came out to save Rey and attack The Judgement Day. Rhea would get her revenge and take out Liv as Damian would handle the rest of the Judgement Day. The two would then team up, and Rhea would Riptide JD McDonough and Damian would South of Heaven Choke Slam Carlito. The Terror Twin managing to stand over the Judgement Day once again sets them up perfectly to get the win at Bash in Berlin and with the inclusion of the LWO in this feud it will be interesting to watch how things will play out between them.
CM Punk attacks Drew McIntyre
Just days away from his strap match against CM Punk at Bash in Berlin Drew McIntyre would speak the truth and mock Punk. He’d start by explaining how boring Punk is and how he does the same promo every week and then he would say that Punk is scared of him. He would point out how Punk constantly attacks him when his back is turned and how the crowd is to blame for cheering him on. He would then say that it would be the crowd’s fault as McIntyre scars Punk’s body at Bash in Berlin before he would turn his attention to the bracelet with CM Punk’s dog and wife’s name on it. At this Punk would charge into the ring and attack Drew from behind before the brawl got taken outside the ring where Punk would whip McIntyre with the strap. Security would come in to break it up, but Punk would make a statement by taking them all out. The interesting thing in this promo is that everything Drew said was completely true leaving a conflicting feeling around the feud of who we should be rooting for.
Intercontinental Championship Number 1 Contender Qualifiers
In the first qualifying match of the tournament, it was Kofi Kingston VS Karrion Kross VS Jey Uso where the feud between the New Day and the Final Testament would be on display. Jey Uso would inevitably win this match as Kofi and Karrion would get too caught up in trying to take each other out that it would allow Jey Uso to take advantage as he would hit Kross with a Spear and a Uso Splash to get the pin. The second qualifying match was between Pete Dunne, Xavier Woods and The Miz in quite an unpredictable match. Each superstar would have moments in this match where it looked like they might win but it was Pete Dunne who got the job done in the end through some not-so-clean tactics.
Braun Strowman v Bronson Reed
This match was destined to be amazing as two of the biggest men in the WWE went one-on-one in a match that you couldn’t look away from. In the ring, both superstars would show their skills as Bronson Reed would perform a suicide dive and Braun Strowman would throw Bronson Reed around the ring. Reed soon decided that he had enough as he headed to the exits, but Braun Strowman wouldn’t allow it as he chased Bronson down and attacked him. The two would continue to battle into the backstage area as Bronson would throw a bin at Braun and Braun would fight through security to get to Bronson. The two would soon find themselves in the parking lot where Braun would throw Reed on top and over cars until Reed was able to find a pole to attack Strowman leaving Strowman defenceless and laid out on the top of a car. Bronson Reed would climb the wall and hit Strowman with a Tsunami through the car until security would finally come out to stop the brawl. This match was a chaotic masterpiece and shows Bronson Reed as a truly unstoppable beast that no one on the WWE roster would want to face.
Highlights:
- Damage CTRL defeats Pure Fusion Collective as Zelina Vega returns and attacks Sonya Deville
- Randy Orton would talk about how much the world heavyweight title means to him
Uncle Howdy VS Chad Gable
The main event of this week’s show was the long-awaited in-ring debut of Uncle Howdy against Chad Gable. Uncle Howdy’s entrance was a beautiful thing to watch as he would pay homage to his brother Bray Wyatt using his music and a similar entrance style. As the match started Howdy would look to destroy Gable and teach him a lesson for how he treated his former family the Alpha Academy. Gable would fight his way back into the match as he would suplex Howdy 3 times and then look to use Chaos Theory. Howdy would once again pay Homage to his brother by hanging his head upside down to prevent Gable from attacking him, Howdy would then slam Gable into the mat and look to set up a Sister Abigail until Ivy Nile would cause a distraction. Gable would put Howdy in an ankle lock that Howdy was able to escape by knocking Gable into the referee. With the referee taken out the Creed Brother would come and try to take out Howdy until the rest of the Wyatt Sicks would show up to help. This would leave Gable all alone as Howdy would successfully use Sister Abigail to get the win over Gable. While this match was lacking in areas it was still great to watch Uncle Howdy performing in the ring and it will be interesting to see if and what is next for the Wyatt Sicks.
The show was non-stop from start to finish with important moments. There was lots of story progression both building into Bash in Berlin and looking past the PLE. The matches tonight were great especially Bronson Reed VS Braun Stroman in what was probably the best match RAW has had all year.
