During the All In broadcast AEW announced that Brisbane will be hosting Grand Slam on the 15th of February.
Earlier this week Tony Khan confirmed that this show was in the works but did not reveal any details as he was likely waiting for All In to make the official announcement.
Because of the announcement we now know that the show will take place at the Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane.
The Suncorp Stadium is primarily used for Rugby games and its official capacity is up to 52,500 people but when in concert mode it can potentially hold 60,000 people. The last time the venue held a similar event was the Manny Pacquiao vs. Jeff Horn boxing match which had an attendance of 51,052 people.
The announcement also gave us the name of the show which is Grand Slam, the AEW Grand Slam event typically is a TV special which takes place in the Arthur Ashe Stadium in Chicago. There has not been an official announcement if the Australian version of the show will be a PPV or a TV special. But because of the venue it’s likely to assume it will be a PPV.
Tickets for the show will go on sale on the 13th of September.
