ALL ELITE WEEKLY (15/8/24-18/8/24)

Welcome back to ALL ELITE WEEKLY the series where we recap all the highlights and main storylines that took place across AEW television programming. This week was more set up as the ALL IN PPV is two weeks away. It mainly had setup to continue storytelling next week as that’s when the go home shows take place before the big PPV. 

DYNAMITE 

Hikaru Shida VS Mercedes Mone (c ) – TBS Championship Match 

After a competitive match Mone got the victory after Kamille hit Shida with a big boot while the ref was distracted by Mone wielding a kendo stick this enabled Mone to hit the Money Maker and get the victory. 

After the match Kamille jumps a masked fan who she suspects is Britt Baker as Mone watches on Baker enters from the crowd and attacks Mone from behind, eventually Kamille realises what’s going on and saves Mone.

Adam Page Starts a Brawl Before his Match 

Page who was slated to have a match against Jay Lethal who is aligned with Pages rival Jeff Jarrett attacked the duo and their associates moments before they were supposed to wrestle. 

Page then dragged Lethal to the ring and beat him swiftly. 

Jack Perry and Darby Allin Fight Backstage

As Darby Allin is making his entrance Perry came out and attacked Allin he then dragged him backstage and enclosed him in a roller door security then came to drag Perry away. 

Roderick Strong VS Kyle O’Reily VS Orange Cassidy- For the #1 Spot in the ALL IN Gauntlet Match 

Cassidy rolled up his fellow stable member O’Reilly to win the match meaning he will be the first to enter the Gauntlet match meaning he has the best advantage to win it and earn a AEW World Heavyweight Title opportunity. 

Claudio Castignoli and Okada Face to Face 

The two face off and give their reasons as to why they are the best and why they will win their match together. They  then made their match for the Continental Title official for Dynamite next week in Cardiff. 

HOOK Challenges Chris Jericho 

HOOK came to the ring and challenged Jericho for a match for the FTW Title which Jericho won from him. Jericho comes to the ring and calls Hook stupid for wanting to have a match with Jericho after he injured HOOK’s eye after hitting him with a fireball. 

Jericho agrees to give him a match at ALL IN but says it will be his last chance at the title and that he will need to have a match with Big Bill first, HOOK accepts the challenge. 

The Young Bucks (C ) VS The Acclaimed – AEW World Tag Team Championship Title Match

As The Young Bucks made their entrance The Acclaimed attacked the duo and the teams fought their way to the ring. 

During the match the referee gets knocked unconscious Matt Jackson then grabs the one of the belts to attack Max Caster but FTR intervene and take the belt from Jackson, Dax Harwood attacks Jackson as the referee wakes up and he disqualifies The Acclaimed. 

The Acclaimed get mad that FTR cost them their title shot and they argue in the ring as security separates them. 

Christopher Daniels is watching backstage and due to how the match indeed he schedules FTR and The Acclaimed to a number one contenders match on Collision. 

Swerve Strickland VS Wheeler Yuta

Strickland dominates the match getting almost all of the offence and continuously taunts Yuta during the match. Bryan Danielson is watching on from the crowd as Yuta is a member of the BCC with Danielson. 

The MAtch ends by referee stoppage after Strickland landed a barrage of Danielson inspired combos on Yuta after the bell rings Danielson runs at Swerve to stop the beating Yuta is taking. 

Strickland gets on the microphone and says that was to show why he is the most dangerous man in AEW. After leaving the ring Danielson turns his back to check on Yuta Swerve then rushes to the ring to hit the House Call on Danielson. 

COLLISION 

Undisputed Kingdom (C ) VS Dustin Rhodes and Sammy Guevera- ROH Tag Team Championships

This is the last week of Collisions Arlington residency and to celebrate that the Texan locals Rhodes and Guevvera got a shot at the ROH Tag Titles. 

After a hard fought battle Guevera and Rhodes got the win making Rhodes a double champion in ROH with him also being one of the Six Man Title Holders. 

Jack Perry Reveals a New Title

Perry walks to the ring and quickly disposes of a local talent, he then puts the local wrestler in a body bag and places his TNT Title in with him. He then grabs a black bag and pulls out a custom version of the TNT Title. 

FTR VS The Acclaimed- Number one Contender Match 

The main event is to find out which team will face the Young Bucks at ALL IN. 

In an extremely competitive match neither team can get the upper hand, and after  a failed pin attempt the bell rings as it’s a time limit draw. 

The two teams start brawling and then Tony Khan sends a message to the broadcast team that it will be a triple threat for the AEW World Tag Team Championships at ALL IN.

  • Wild Card in Cardiff – Match for the final spot in the AEW World Trios Championship ladder match on Collision
