4/8 – 10/8.
1976 – In his first professional wrestling match, Terry Bollea wrestled under the name “The Super Destroyer” where he also wore a mask, he faced B. Brian Blair.
1989 – World Class Wrestling Association (formerly known as World Class Championship Wrestling) owned by the Von Erich Family and the Continental Wrestling Association amalgamated to for the United States Wrestling Association (USWA).
1992 – Big Van Vader was victorious over Riki Chosu to win the IWGP Heavyweight Championship that Vader would hold for 374 days.
1995 – WCW held an event in Korea called “Collision in Korea” was televised for the first time throughout the UK.
The event was recorded in April with a questionable audience number of 340,000.
If this number is true, it would be the largest crowd for a 2-night event in wrestling history.
1997 – On Monday Night Nitro Lex Luger ended the nearly year long WCW World Championship reign of “Hollywood” Hulk Hogan.
However, Luger’s time as WCW champion was short lived as Hogan regained the belt 5 days later at WCW Road Wild.
Hogan got a surprise assist from Sting to win the championship.
1997 – Sabu was victorious over Terry Funk for the ECW World Championship in a barbed wire match
1998 – At the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally in Sturgis North Dakota, WCW held the Road Wild Pay Per View.
The main event of the night saw a victory to Diamond Dallas Page and late-night talk show host Jay Leno over the team of “Hollywood” Hulk Hogan and Eric Bischoff.
1999 – In one of the most memorable debuts in WWF history, Chris Jericho made his long-awaited debut in the WWF.
Considering that the countdown to the Millennium was occurring at the time, for a number of weeks a countdown clock had appeared on the Titantron counting down to the Millennium and when the clock hit zero, Chris Jericho interrupted a promo by The Rock to announce he had come to the WWF.
The main event of WCW Nitro saw Hulk Hogan, Goldberg and Sting face off against Sid Vicious, Rick Steiner and Kevin Nash in a 6-man tag team match.
The match was memorable as Hogan appeared for the first time in the red and yellow colours for the first time since he adopted the Hollywood persona at the Bash At The Beach pay per view 3 years earlier and formed the NOW.
2001 – On Monday Night Raw, Tajiri was victorious over X – Pac for the WWF Light Heavyweight Championship.
Tajiri’s reign was short lived however as X – Pac won the title back 2 weeks later.
2001 – An action-packed episode of Smackdown occurred where history was made when Diamond Dallas Page (DDP) and Kanyon became the first WCW team to hold the WWF Tag Team Championship when they were victorious over the APA.
Kane and The Undertaker made history as well by being the first WWF tag team to hold the WCW world tag team championship.
2007 – After the “Who Killed Mr McMahon” segment was dropped, Vince McMahon returned to Monday Night Raw.
To decide on a new RAW General Manager, McMahon held a 20 man Battle Royal with the winner being named as the new General Manager of Monday Night RAW.
William Regal won the Battle Royal.
2008 – Samoa Joe was victorious over Booker T in a Steel Cage Weapons match to hold onto the TNA World Heavyweight Championship.
On the same night, Jeff Jarrett made his return to TNA after a 15 month absence.
2011 – Kurt Angle was victorious over Sting at TNA’s Hardcore Justice Pay Per View for the TNA World Heavyweight Championship.
