ALL ELITE WEEKLY (8/8/24-11/8/24)
Welcome back to ALL ELITE WEEKLY where we recap the major moments of AEW programming to get you quickly up to speed if you missed anything. This week has been ramping up with storylines to get ready for ALL IN which is only a few weeks away.
DYNAMITE
MJF VS Kyle Fletcher – American Title Eliminator Match
The show opened with a match between American champion MJF and Australian Kyle Fletcher who has a problem with MJF due to his feud with Fletcher’s friend Will Ospreay.
As the bell rang MJF rolled out of the ring grabbed a microphone and started to criticise Fletcher for being Australian and challenged him to lock up implying that Fletcher does not wrestle a traditional style.
In the closing section of the match Don Callis implores Fletcher to use a weapon to beat MJF but as Fletcher hesitates MJF hits him with a low blow this enabled MJF to win the match.
MJF then began to beat down Fletcher with his diamond ring leaving him bleeding, MJF sets up the Tiger Driver 91 but Ospreay rushed to the ring to save his friend.
Mariah May and Toni Storm Brawl in the Ring
After easily beating Viva Van, May celebrates in the ring she is then handed a gift wrapped photo of Storm and May hugging. As she turns it around it’s revealed the photo says “Die Mariah Die” on it.
The camera pans and it reveals that Storm is in the ring. The two start brawling, May reveals she has the shoe she used to attack Storm but Storm takes it from her and attempts to use it as a weapon but the referees stop them from doing so.
Shibata VS Bryan Keith
As Shibata got the upper hand Big Bill attacked Shibata giving him a DQ victory, the other two members of the Learning Tree attacked Shibata but then HOOK’s music hits who has been missing since Jericho hit him with a fireball.
HOOK chases off the other members of the Learning Tree and then stands tall with Shibata
Bryan Danielson VS Jeff Jarrett- Anything Goes Match
Danielson enters first as he makes his way to the ramp Jarrett sneaks behind him and hits him with a guitar, the two then begin to brawl around the arena using everything they can in the stands as a weapon. The action then returns to the ring where they continue to use the environment to pull off many unique spots.
Danielson wins the match after hitting a Busaiku Knee with a steel chair.
After the match ends Ricky Steamboat raises the hands of both men the two then hug, as they do Swerve Stricklands music hits and he begins to speak, Swerve criticises Danielson for being worn out he then challenges Wheeler Yuta for a match on the next episode of Dynamite.
COLLISION
Deonna Purrazo VS Thunder Rosa – Texas Bull Rope Match
The two have been having back and forth matches for weeks as they have a heated rivalry. The match is won by Thunder Rosa who is covered in blood from how brutal the match was.
Swerve Strickland Open Challenge
Swerve comes to the ring and says he needs to get ready for his match against Bryan Danielson so he sets an open challenge. Giving anyone in the back a chance at the World title.
The Challenge is accepted by Tomohiro Ishii.
After hitting Ishii with a Housecall Swerve wins the match.
ALL IN Match made Official
Stokely Hathaway and Kris Statlander make their way to the ring and are made aware that Kris Statlander and Stokely Hathaway VS Willow Nightingale and Tomohiro Ishii has been made official for the ALL IN Zero Hour.
Statlander accepts but Hathaway seems uneasy about the challenge.
Bang Bang Gang VS House of Black – Christian Cage Special Guest Referee
The match is a number one contenders match for the AEW world Trios title which the Patriarchy currently holds.
After the match breaks down every competitor in the match gets laid out in the ring Christian Cage then begins to count to 10 to get a KO finish, Buddy Matthews gets up at 9 But Cage hits him with a Spear and counts to 10 anyway. Meaning the match is a draw and there isn’t a number one contender.
The Patriarchy then came to the ring and attacked both teams.
