WCW Legend Kevin Sullivan Passes Away
This week WCW wrestler and booker Kevin Sullivan passed away at the age of 74 years after a “devastating accident”.
The news was announced by WWE who paid tribute to Sullivan and shared some kind words about his career and gave condolences to his family. The details of his passing are still unclear but he did suffer an accident at a autograph signing earlier this year, Sullivan then suffered further complications during his surgery and has been recovering since May.
Sullivan wrestled in many major promotions during the territory days including Georgia Championship Wrestling, Big Time wrestling and WWE back when it was WWWF before Vince Mcmahon took over the company. In 1987 Sulllivan began wrestling for Jim Crockett Promotions/ WCW where Sullivan would rise to prominence.
In WCW Sullivan would become a leader of numerous stables which included many big names of the time and the future, for example Big Show debuted as a member of the Dungeon of Doom.
After retiring in 1997 Sullivan shifted to a booking role and helped book WCW when it was the most popular wrestling promotion in the world by 2001 he had left the company, after leaving WCW he started working the indies.
RIc Flair and Diamond Dallas Page who were Sullivans colleagues during his time in WCW have posted on X to give their condolences to Sullivan and his family.
