SLAM! Pro Wrestling League 14

Mikey Broderick VS SLEX

The SLAM! Pro Wrestling League was holding its first event at the UC Refectory, so they started the show strong with Mikey Broderick VS SLEX. With SLEX returning from injury the fans had to wait longer than expected to see this match and it did not disappoint. Mikey Broderick would start the match strong being the winner of the last two matches that these two had met in. SLEX was able to turn the tide after breaking out of a cross-face submission from Mikey Broderick. SLEX would come out the winner after hitting his finisher and the two would shake hands showing respect to each other post-match.

Kings Court VS The Velocities

The Kings Court had deemed the Velocities to be not worthy of the SLAM! Pro Wrestling Tag Team Championships. The Velocities started this match at a high pace, but it wouldn’t take long for the Kings Court to start working together in this match and gain the advantage. The Velocities were eventually able to make the tag and regain momentum until Matt Hayter would use the referee to protect himself which allowed King Vance to hit his Tiger Bomb making the Kings Court the new SLAM! Pro Wrestling Tag Team Champions. Their title reign wouldn’t last long as the referee would fail at putting the titles around the waist of Matt Hayter so the King would rule off with his head and the ref would be attacked. The board of directors would step in and rule that abusing the referees would not be tolerated and so the titles were stripped from the Kings Court leaving the tag titles vacated before Rage in The Cage 2.

Vinnie Bronson VS Randy Chambers

Vinnie Bronson would be looking to get back at Randy Chambers in this match after Randy managed to beat him at the SLAM! academy for the SLAM! Masters Cup. For the first time in over three SLAM! events Vinnie would have his manager Josh from the Ned & Josh Podcast at his side as the crowd was expecting Josh to get involved in the match somehow. Surprisingly Josh would not get involved during the match as Vinnie would maintain the advantage throughout and manage to lock in the submission to get the win.

The Backslide Girlz perform live

The Backslide Girlz would come out to the ring with the SLAM! Women’s Champion Kingsley sang to the crowd as her partner Shay Kassidy would be dancing next to her. The crowd wouldn’t appreciate the song though as the girls would have to cut the music and threaten to restart the song unless the audience could learn to appreciate good music. Fortunately for the SLAM! fans, Rita Stone would challenge Kingsley to a title match but as this night was about the Backslide Girlz, Kingsley would deny Rita a match unless she could find a partner. At this Gym Bro Jessie would come out and the SLAM! fans had a Women’s tag team match on their hands. Gym Bro Jessie and Rita Stone would gain the advantage over Kingsley as she would tag in Kassidy and run over to pick up her title leaving Shay Kassidy in the ring without any help. Gym Bro and Rita would double team Shay Kassidy and get the win as Kingsley would remind everyone that she is still the SLAM! Champion. Rita would point out that she’s the number 1 ranked on the SLAM! power rankings as the title match for Rage in The Cage 2 appears to be Rita Stone VS Kingsley.

Hugh Beauty vs Ricky South

With Ricky South managing to get the better of Hugh Beauty in both the 2024 Slam! Rumble event and the Terry Campese Invitational Battle Royale last year this was Hugh’s opportunity to get a big win. The beginning of the match started with some close competition as both competitors would go back and forth until Ricky South would get caught up in the ropes which allowed Hugh to gain an advantage. Once Ricky South was able to escape the rope, he managed to lock Hugh Beauty in a submission hold that Hugh Beauty would manage to break. Ricky South would get annoyed and begin taunting the Slam fans by calling out Queenslander in the ACT which got a mixed reaction. Hugh would use the time to rest and then come after Ricky South as he would come flying off of the top rope to get the win. As Hugh Beauty was celebrating Vinnie Bronson and his Manager Josh would ambush Hugh by stomping him down. Vinnie would load up his brass knuckles to take Hugh out but before he had the chance Crofty would make his return to SLAM! and make the save for Hugh Beauty.

Dan archer vs Emman Azman

Azman would come out fast and strong getting the better of Archer early in the match. Dan Archer would be able to use his strength to slow Emman Azman down, but Emman would fight his way back with a Leg Drop DDT which allowed him to get back into the match. Dan Archer would once again use his strength to get the better of Emman with a Sit-Down Power Bomb and a knee to the back of the neck. Emman Azman would manage to kick out of the pin and as Archer would go up to the top rope Emman Azman would shake the ropes causing Archer to slip and give Emman the advantage. As Emman was going for the finish Dan Archer would use the referee as a shield to stop Emman who he would then knock down and hit with the Archers Paradox giving Archer the win and boosting his standing in the SLAM! Power Rankings.

Carlo Cannon vs Luke Watts

Carlo would be distracted early in the match as he would get into an argument with the SLAM! fans. As Carlo turns his attention back to Luke, he would show off his strength against the champ showing he means business. Luke not taking any of it would come after Carlo Cannon and gain an early advantage to show Carlo who the SLAM! Champ is. Carlo would manage to use his power to work his way back into the match but after getting distracted by the fans once again Luke would have the time to rest and make his way back into the match. After some late surges from Carlo Cannon Luke Watts would be able to hit the 270 degrees of knees and win the match. Once the match had ended Dan Archer would come out and attack Luke Watts with a chair and demand a title match at Rage in the Cage 2 by threatening to crush the champ’s throat with a chair. Sweet Pete had no choice other than to sign the contract making the steel cage match official for Rage in the Cage 2. Archer would go on to stomp on the chair anyway possibly injuring Luke Watts severely before November 2nd.

This SLAM! event was a great way to build into Rage in the Cage 2 which is taking place at the AIS arena on November 2nd. with teases for a rematch between Vinnie Bronson and Hugh Beauty along with the main event being locked in Rage in the Cage looks like a show that can’t be missed.
