AEW’s Paul Wight Undergoes Successful Hip & Knee Replacement Surgery
Paul Wight has suffered a number of excruciating injuries throughout his thirty year career. Naturally, working with a seven-foot tall, four to five hundred pound frame for a majority of an athlete’s career can lead to some heavy wear and tear, especially in professional wrestling
In recent years, Paul Wight has worked towards a career renaissance of sorts by signing with All Elite Wrestling as both a wrestler and a commentator. After a number of matches, Wight was written off AEW television in December 2023 after a Six-Man Tag Team Street Fight alongside Kenny Omega, Chris Jericho and Kota Ibushi against Brian Cage, Konosuke Takeshita, Powerhouse Hobbs and Australian Kyle Fletcher.
Wight took to Instagram to provide an update on his condition following successful surgery on both his knees and hips:
Today was a great day! Grateful. Both knees both hips replaced. No pain! Well other than the hard work to get back into shape. That’s not egg shaped. Lol.

It’s unknown at this stage when Wight will return to the ring, or in what capacity he will be featured as an in-ring competitor.
