Behind the Barricades: A look into Victorian Wrestling upcoming shows

Hi there! For those who don’t know me, my name’s Andrew Stewart and I’ve been a fan of local wrestling for 13 years! I’ve been a photographer, manager, backstage and ring interviewer in the past. Some may even remember Aus Vic Wrestling where all shows were covered. This is something I look to bringing back here with PWDownUnder.

Let’s get started shall we? There are no shows until the 25th July so I’ll be covering the shows of that weekend coming!

We’ve got Deathmatch DownUnder doing ‘Bash at the Brewery’ which is a free show held at Dainton Brewery. Whilst there’s not a match card yet, this show is held on Thursday July 25th! The event information can be found at:- https://facebook.com/events/s/bash-at-the-brewery/448163401179410/

The following day is a big night for Victorian Wrestling! With Wrestlerock (held at Corner Hotel, Richmond) having a show as well as Adrenaline Pro Wrestling Breakout (held in Seaford). With both shows expected to have big crowds, I will be running down what Wrestlerock has announced so far including my predictions!

KENTA, who is a well known Japanese wrestler (Was also in WWE for a while) will be taking on Gino Gambino! A match that you wouldn’t want to miss at all. I, personally am excited for this match up and whilst I’d love an upset to happen. I do think Kenta will be showing us some of his dangerous strikes which will be enough to put Gino Gambino down.

JXT is taking on Adelaide’s Matt Hayter in what should be another fantastic match! JXT will be seeking revenge after Matt Hayter superkicked JXT last show to cost him the Championship. However, we cannot overlook Matt Hayter and his rise in the business. Quickly becoming a must-see talent across the country, this match up could go either way. I’m someone who loves it when one gets their payback, my pick here is JXT!

Fun Time Phil is taking on Murdoch here. Whilst Phil is seen as a comedic act these days, Murdoch on the other hand has been solely focusing on Tag Team action. So seeing Murdoch work in a Singles match is a bit rare these days, but nonetheless he is rising and really making a name for himself. I sense that Murdoch will take this match with a more serious approach as he looks to continue being heard. Even though Phil does a lot of comedy, he knows his way around the ring and can be crafty. However, I do feel Murdoch will pull the victory here but it won’t be pretty.

Caveman Ugg is taking on Jake Andrewartha in what should be an absolute HOSS fight! Both men are absolutely dominant and a force to be reckoned with. Andrewartha has been absolutely impressive with his run but I do feel it will come to an end here. Caveman Ugg is a fan favourite and I do believe he is the one who can take down Andrewartha in a match up that will shake the room!

On the Saturday, Geelong fans are treated to Australian Outlaw Wrestling at the Barwon Club! Whilst no match card is revealed, they have stated the following wrestlers will be there and they are:- Gweedo, Mad Dog, Hex, Mike Kaos, Jay Hunter & Morgan Rose.

Finally, we reach Sunday 28th July and it’s a big show here! With Renegades of Wrestling also hosting Kenta! The current match card is as followed:-

Gino Gambino v. Lochy Hendricks (Steel Cage Match)

Krackerjak v. Tyson Reed (Street Fight)

Mitch Waterman v. Murdoch

Caveman Ugg v. Levi Nixon

Charli Rose v. Tarlee

KENTA v. Gore

These are the announced matches so far with more to come! I’ll start with Gino v. Lochy Hendricks which is the most anticipated match of the year for me. These two have been at absolute war ever since Gino Gambino made his return earlier this year. Lochy Hendricks has been taking Australian Wrestling by storm over the last few years especially with his feud against Krackerjak (where he retired him). Lochy has also gone on to proclaim himself as King. This is where Gino made his comeback, Lochy last show was able to defeat Gino but thanks to the hands of Sebastian Walker (Gino’s former manager) but now, these two are inside a steel cage where nobody can run or hide. This will be a bloodbath and honestly I cannot pick a winner here. The fans win in this match and I cannot wait for it!

Krackerjak and Tyson Reed have gone at it as well for quite some time. With Tyson Reed rising up the ranks and even proving Krackerjak that even he has a few tricks up his sleeve. Whilst Tyson may be feeling lucky, he’s chosen to enter a territory Krackerjak is all too familiar with. A street fight! Can Tyson truly show Krackerjak that he can be in his territory when weapons are legal? Or will Krackerjak who’s had years of experience prove to Tyson he just isn’t ready to compete in Krackerjaks world? I’m going for the upset here and I believe Tyson Reed will provide the upset of the night!

Mitch Waterman has made a name for himself over the last couple of years, being a Champion and touring the UK. Now he wants Renegades top prize but standing in his way is AMBUSH. Murdoch who is ¼ of AMBUSH has decided to take on Mitch Waterman’s challenge as Mitch has stated he will go through all of AMBUSH to get to Emman Azman (the current champion). Whilst the numbers looked stacked against Mitch, I do think he will come off the winner which might give ABMBUSH… A little ambush themselves.

Caveman Ugg was so close to defeating Emman Azman in a Tables, Ladders and Chairs match last show. It was Levi Nixon who pretended to cash in his shot and helped Emman Azman and AMBUSH take out Caveman Ugg so Emman could retain. Ugg is out for revenge and whilst Levi still has the opportunity, I feel Ugg will have his number.

Tarlee was unlucky against Aysha last show, soon after we saw a viscous attack from Charli Rose and Rochelle Rogue on Tarlee. Now Tarlee will be wanting to get back to where she feels she is, but with newcomers on the block the division is just heating up! Will Caity Luxe be by Tarlee’s side? (After all she saved Tarlee from receiving even more of a beatdown) and if so, that will have Rochelle worried as the match will be equal. I do feel Charli will pick up a win here as I’m intrigued to see how this new dynamic duo will fare and shake up the division!

With more matches to come, I’ll be at Wrestlerock and Renegades that weekend. If you see me about, feel free to say hi! You can find me on X (AceOfTheStars) and leave any feedback or questions you may have!
