Starrcast Downunder Card Preview: Australian Stampede & HER
Starrcast Downunder is finally upon us this weekend. The City of Ballarat will see an influx of wrestling fans for a stacked four days of stage shows and in-ring action featuring appearances from local fan favourites and internationally acclaimed talent. Mickie James’ HER will be the first event occurring at Selkirk Stadium on Friday the 12th, followed by Bret Hart’s Australian Stampede on Saturday the 13th. Here we will go over the card for each event:
Mickie James Presents: HER
Singles Match: Mickie James vs. Vix Crow
- The mastermind of the weekends all female event, Mickie James will take on Vix Crow. Both women are former champions in WWE, with James defending the WWE Divas Championship against Crow, then known as Alicia Fox, 15 years ago in 2009.
Triple Threat Match for the AAA Reina de Reinas Championship: Lady Flammer (c) vs. Steph De Lander vs. Jody Threat
- The first internationally recognised championship that will be defended is Mexico’s AAA Reina de Reinas Championship, held by Lady Flammer. Challengers include one half of the TNA Women’s Tag Team Champions Jody Threat and Australia’s own, former WSW Women’s Champion Steph De Lander.
Singles Match: Tenille Dashwood vs. Jessica Troy
- An All-Australian showdown, fan favourite Jessica Troy will welcome Tenille Dashwood back to the ring after her WWE release.
Tag Team Match for the OPW Women’s Tag Team Championships: P.P.K (Frankie B & Nikki Van Blair) vs. The Backslide Girlz (Kingsley & Shay Kassidy)
- A very exciting match up that will determine the inaugural Oceania Pro Wrestling Women’s Tag Team Champions, with WWE Hall of Famer Bull Nakano crowning the winners.
6 Pack Challenge Match for a shot at the OPW Women’s Championship: Lena Kross vs. Tarlee vs. Aysha vs. Charli Evans vs. Eleaine Hope vs. Caity Luxe
- These six women will each have a chance to challenge the winner of the next contest for the Oceania Pro Wrestling Women’s Championship in the future.
Singles Match for the OPW Women’s Championship: Erika Reid (c) vs. Lizzy Evo
- Erika Reid will have a formidable foe in her inaugural challenger, the British sensation Lizzy Evo. A multi time champion in her native England, Evo is seeking to add another belt to her collection and upset The Dreamtime Voodoo Witch in her first defence of the Oceania Pro Wrestling Women’s Championship.
Singles Match for the TNA Knockouts Championship: Jordynne Grace (c) vs. DELTA
- This hard hitting title clash is sure to be the match of the night with these two competitors standing in the ring. The TNA Knockouts Champion Jordynne Grace and the dominant force of Australian Wrestling DELTA is a fantasy match up you cannot miss this weekend.
Bret Hart Presents: Australian Stampede
NOTE: Slex has not been cleared to compete this weekend. This preview will be written with the assumption that his scheduled bout with Shelton Benjamin has been cancelled.
Singles Match for the Stu Hart Heritage Championship: Chris Masters (c) vs. Mike Rallis
- The Stu Hart Heritage Championship is the top prize in Dungeon Wrestling, with former NWA National Champion Chris Masters being only the third man to claim the belt. Masters will be looking to defend the belt against former WWE product, Mike Rallis. In his first match since leaving the WWE, Rallis, the former Riddick Moss, will be looking to stamp his name next to Masters as the next Stu Hart Heritage Champion.
Singles Match: Powerhouse Hobbs vs. Tommy Knight
- Announced via the South Australian media outlet The Advertiser, SA’s own Tommy Knight is set to welcome All Elite Wrestling’s Powerhouse Hobbs to our shores for a contest of power and might. Big Meaty Men Slapping Meat, as they say.
Singles Match: KUSHIDA vs. Robbie Eagles
- Two of New Japan Pro Wrestling’s resident Junior Heavyweights will be looking to up the ante and tear the roof off of Selkirk Stadium. KUSHIDA answered the challenge of The Sniper Of The Skies Robbie Eagles, leading to what will undoubtedly be a high octane banger of a match.
India vs Australia Six Man Tag Team Match: Shanky Singh, JT Baba & Toofan Singh vs. Emman Azman & Natural Classics (Stevie Filip & Tome Filip)
Special Guest Ring Announcer: Bharat Sundaresan
- This contest features a collection of international talent, with former WWE Superstar Shanky Singh teaming with the CWE Tag Team Champions JT Baba and Toofan Singh of Dalip Singh’s Continental Wrestling Entertainment. The trio will take on one of Australia’s most prominent teams, the Natural Classics and their third man Emman Azman.
Singles Match for the Slam! Championship: Luke Watts (c) vs. Dan Archer
- Slam! Pro Wrestling League has established itself as a must see wrestling event, putting Canberra back on the map. Now the promotion has the chance to show the world what it can do as the Slam! Champion Luke Watts defends against Number One Contender Dan Archer.
Tag Team Match for the OPW Tag Team Championships: The Parea (Eli Theseus & Gabriel Aeros) (c) vs. Gangrel & Edward Dusk
- A phenomenal contest between one of the country’s most popular teams in The Parea and a world renowned legend of the ring and his disciple in Gangrel and Edward Dusk. The Parea are the belt collectors of Australian tag team wrestling at the moment as they look to keep hold of the Oceania Pro Wrestling Tag Team Championships.
Singles Match for the OPW Men’s Championship: Adam Brooks (c) vs. Mance Warner
- The Loose Ledge has a real challenge ahead of him as Adam Brooks stands across from American Deathmatch stalwart Mance Warner. The GCW man will look to get his hands on the Oceania Pro Wrestling Men’s Championship.
Singles Match for the TNA World Championship: Moose (c) vs. Josh Alexander
- TNA Wrestling has made a comeback in a big way this year, and with the TNA Knockouts Championship being defended on the Friday, Saturday will be an equally extravagant endeavour as Moose defends the TNA World Championship against an opponent he knows all too well in Josh Alexander.
