WrestleMania 40 delivered many big moments to cut them all down to five has been hard, but here are the top five moments of WrestleMania 40.
1 – Cody Rhodes Finishes His Story: It was the emotional rollercoaster that everyone has rode since Cody Rhodes returned to the WWE, he was close so many times but now it’s finally happened he’s the new Undisputed Champion. The match saw it all returns of The Undertaker, John Cena and The Shields Seth Rollins. The Bloodline were all involved but so was Jimmy Uso, the story was beautifully told by Roman and Rhodes to bring home the heartwarming moment fans have been wanting.
2 – Damien Priest Cashes In: After Drew McIntyre took the WWE Title from Seth Rollins he started to over celebrate and brought CM Punk to the party, CM Punk ripped off his elbow brace and fought back then enter Damien Priest who cashed in and won the World Heavyweight Title from Drew.
3 – Sami Zayn Dethrones Gunter: After 666 days the reign of Gunther has come to an end in what was an emotionally charged match that had it all. The backstory of the match was some great storytelling and now Gunther is ready for the next stage. While Sami Zayn looks to be a fighting champion like Gunther, it will be interesting to see what they do with both men. But with Rollins possibly injured, Gunther could see his rise to main event status come sooner than expected.
4 – DIY Becomes DX: For weeks The Truth has mistaken Ciampa and Gargano as DX, so come Wrestlemania DX returns for one night only, only they weren’t Triple H and HBK it was Ciampa and Gargano the new DIYX
5 – Rhea Ripley & Grayson Waller Reign Supreme: To finish our list of moments we cannot go past the Australians doing it big on the grandest stage of them all. Rhea Ripley in a great match against Becky Lynch managed to walk out of WrestleMania as the women’s champion still.
Grayson Waller and Austin Theory become the Smackdown Tag Team Champions, what a night for Australian wrestling seeing Waller go from the down under promotions to the big stage and walking out with a title. It’s happened in an epic battle; we also have new Raw Tag Team champions as R-Truth and Miz took the Raw titles in an epic ladder match.
Honourable Mentions
The return of The Undertaker & John Cena: The legendary Undertaker made his appearance known and felt at WrestleMania XL returning to the stage in which he reigned supreme with a massive record. Not only was The Undertaker there, but John Cena came running out from the back, and had a show down with The Rock before being rockbottomed.
It was a WrestleMania for the ages!
Bubba Ray Dudley The Special Guest Referee: We were in ECW country with a Philly street fight, and who better than the ECW original Bubba Ray to come out and try and retore order to the street fight. Bobby Lashley and the Street Profits won, even got the table. But it was great having the ECW feel to a massive street fight.
