Kenny Omega To Undergo Surgery For Diverticulitis
Kenny Omega is likely to undergo surgery for diverticulitis.
Diverticulitis, a condition characterized by the inflammation or infection of small pouches called diverticula that can develop in the digestive system, has become a formidable opponent for Omega. This condition, often associated with severe abdominal pain, fever, nausea, and a marked change in bowel habits, has the potential to sideline athletes, disrupting their careers.
Kenny Omega made his last appearance on the AEW Dynamite episode aired on December 13. Had his condition not been diagnosed when it was, he was at risk of developing a blood infection. Such a complication could have escalated his mortality risk to approximately 50 percent.
When Omega was diagnosed, he was in the midst of a storyline with Chris Jericho on AEW television. The narrative was leading up to a match featuring Ricky Starks and Big Bill at the Worlds End pay-per-view event scheduled for late December.
In the most recent issue of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer shared that although a final decision has yet to be made, it appears increasingly probable that Kenny Omega will undergo intestinal surgery. Meltzer noted that Omega has been experiencing a mix of good and bad days, but has been enduring significant pain for several months.
