The Godfather Set to Appear at BCW Event
On ANZAC Day 2024, Battle Championship Wrestling from Burwood, Victoria is set to present a once in a lifetime event: Pimpin’ Ain’t Easy: An Evening with The Godfather. The show is set to take place at Ashwood College in Ashwood, Victoria. The Godfather is also set to be the special guest host of BCW 57.
Throughout the show, WWE Hall of Famer The Godfather will chronicle his career and he won’t shy away from including the good, the bad and the ugly times. No stone will be left unturned, no gimmick left untouched, no moment left unmentioned.
The Godfather, real name Charles Wright, will include word association, visuals and videos to aid him. Following this, the fans will have a unique opportunity to ask questions to The Godfather, with nothing being off limits.
Born Charles Wright in 1961, The Godfather would attend UN Reno where he would be an offensive tackle on the football (gridiron) team. His career in wrestling would begin after being noticed at a bar by wrestlers in 1989, who told him to get in touch with Larry Sharpe for training.
The Godfather would go on to wrestle for USWA and become the USWA Unified World Heavyweight Champion, holding it for two weeks. He would bounce around some promotions before landing in WWF in 1991, first wrestling as Sir Charles, then as Papa Shango, a horror voodoo character.
The Godfather gimmick would be the most successful as he won the Intercontinental Championship, which he held for 43 days. The Godfather would go on to win the World Tag Team Championships with Bull Buchanan while apart of Right to Censor, as the Goodfather.
In 2016, Charles Wright would be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame, under the Godfather name. The Godfather still makes occasional appearances in the industry.
