CM Punk Returns To WWE After Survivor Series: WarGames Main Event
As far as the fans were aware, WWE Survivor Series: WarGames was set to end with the return of Randy Orton as the final member of Team Rhodes. While “The Viper” may have returned to the ring and assisted in the dismantling of the Judgement Day in the main event, a bigger surprise was lurking behind the curtain.
As was rumoured and teased heavily leading up to the event, fans erupted as Living Colour’s “Cult of Personality” rang through the Allstate Arena and “Best In The World” could be seen from all angles. Finally, the deal was sealed as CM Punk emerged in front of the ecstatic audience chanting his name.
Punk last appeared in WWE in the 2014 Royal Rumble match, being eliminated third last. He made his return to pro wrestling in 2021 on the inaugural episode of AEW Rampage, before taking time off to heal an injury after the controversial and devisive AEW “Brawl Out” incident at AEW All Out 2022. Punk would once again return, this time on the inaugural episode of AEW Collision in 2023. He was fired from the promotion for his involvement in a backstage altercation with Jack Perry at AEW All In 2023 in London, England back in August.
