MJF (c) vs Jay White
This has been the best built PPV that AEW has provided this year. Let’s see if it lives up to the hype.
Zero Hour:
1. ROH World Tag Team Championships
MJF and Samoa Joe (c) vs The Gunns (Austin Gunn and Colten Gunn)
MJF has been feuding with Bullet Club Gold for a while now, and that’s very evident for this show, as he defends both his Championships against members of the group, starting with The Gunns for the ROH World Tag Team Championships. Samoa Joe has stepped up to help MJF defend the titles, but I think he will cost them the match, allowing The Gunns to win.
Winner: The Gunns
2. ROH World Championship
Eddie Kingston (c) vs Jay Lethal
Jay Lethal thinks he is the better person to hold the coveted ROH World Championship, so, he challenged Eddie Kingston to a match. This should be a good back-and-forth match. I have Eddie Kingston retaining
Winner: Eddie Kingston
3. Singles Match
Buddy Matthews vs Claudio Castagnoli
Claudio Castagnoli challenged Buddy Matthews to a match on Collision after the latter beat Wheeler Yuta. After the match, Claudio run down the House of Black leading to the challenge, which Tony Khan confirmed. Claudio should get the win here.
Winner: Claudio Castagnoli
Main Card:
4. AEW Women’s World Championship
Hikaru Shida (c) vs “Timeless” Toni Storm (with Luther)
Toni Storm has put in some of the best character work this year in AEW and in thoroughly enjoying it. While, Hikaru Shida has been one of the best Women’s champion’s in main stream American wrestling (at last in my opinion). I can see Toni Storm getting the win here.
Winner: “Timeless” Toni Storm
5. Six Man Tag Team Match:
Sting, Darby Allin, and Adam Copeland (with Ric Flair) vs Christian Cage, Luchasaurus, and Nick Wayne
If you told me in 2011, when Adam Copeland retired that, in 2023, we would see him and Christian Cage facing each other in a tag team match in opposing sides in a company that wasn’t WWE, I would have called you a liar, but here we are. I don’t see this being that exciting to watch. It won’t be a masterpiece. It will tell a decent story, hopefully. I have Sting and co winning, due to Sting being on his retirement tour right now.
Winner: Sting, Darby Allin, and Adam Copeland.
6. AEW International Championship
Orange Cassidy (c) vs Jon Moxley
This rivalry has been…. well…. interesting. From what I can gather from watching it unfold is Jon Moxley doesn’t like Orange Cassidy because he got over with the crowd with an unorthodox gimmick, and managed to elevate the AEW International Championship in the process. Either way, this will be a hard hitting match, and no doubt Jon Moxley has already been busted open from it just by being announced for the match. Orange Cassidy will retain.
Winner: Orange Cassidy
7. Texas Death Match “Hangman” Adam Page vs Swerve Stricklan (with Prince Nana)
Currently, the most compelling story going today in AEW. This is a rematch from WrestleDream, in which Swerve Strickland got the win. In this hard hitting match, there will be blood, there will be brawling, I wouldn’t be surprised if there was interference from the Mogul Embassy. There’s only 2 ways to win, make your opponent submit, or knock them out. Adam Page has the upper hand in this match style, given he has competed in them numerous times, and given that he lost at WrestleDream, I’m giving Adam the win.
Winner: “Hangman” Adam Page
8. Tag Team Match
The Golden Jets (Chris Jericho and Kenny Omega) vs The Young Bucks (Matt Jackson and Nick Jackson) If The Golden Jets win, they are awarded the Young Bucks future AEW World Tag Team Championship opportunity. If The Young Bucks win, The Golden Jets must disband. Jealousy and Don Callis brought this match together. The Young Bucks seem jealous that Omega and Jericho started teaming to sort out Don Callis, claiming Omega had forgotten about The Elite. I have the Golden Jets winning, and this will result in Kenny Omega officially cutting ties with the Elite.
Winner: The Golden Jets
9. AEW TBS Championship Triple Threat Match
Kris Statlander (c) vs Julia Hart vs Skye Blue
Kris Statlander’s time as TBS Champion is going to come to an end, but I don’t see her being on the receiving end of the fall. Skye Blue has shown a darker, more sinister side ever since Julia Hart sprayed black mist in her eyes, and has even used blue mist herself on Julia. And Julia has been on a roll as of late. I have Julia getting the win here, it’s her time.
Winner: Julia Hart
10. AEW World Tag Team Championship Fatal Four Way Ladder Match
Ricky Starks and Big Bill (c) vs La Facción Ingobernable (Rush and Dralístico) vs FTR (Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler) vs Kings of the Black Throne (Malakai Black and Brody King)
Chaos. That sums up what this match will be like. Whether he is a heel or a face, Ricky Starks shines, and he’ll no doubt shine in this environment. The 3 challenging teams will put up a fight, and it will end in a brawl, with Ricky Starks getting the sneaky win, retaining the championship’s.
Winner: Ricky Starks and Big Bill
11. AEW World Championship
MJF (c) vs Jay White
The match everyone has been looking forward to. Although MJF is the official champion going into this match, Jay White is the one in possession of the championship title (which he dubs the Bang Bang Belt, a play on MJF caking the belt the Triple B), claiming to be the champion. MJF is going to be tired and sore going into this match, given that it’s his second of the night, but I still see him putting up a good fight, and overcoming the odds to beat Jay to close the show out.
Winner: MJF
