Kairi Sane Returning To WWE After Hiatus
Prior to Summerslam on August 5th, it was announced that KAIRI, formerly known as Kairi Sane in WWE, would be returning to her former employer.
During a press conference, Sane explained she will be taking an indefinite hiatus at the end of September. The following translation is courtesy of Eastern Lariat:
I have made a decision. I can’t say it clearly, but in preparation for a new voyage, a voyage of determination, I would like to put my activities on indefinite hiatus as of the end of September 2023. Rest assured that this is a positive decision. Lastly, I would like to thank President Rossy Ogawa for not giving up on me, who was said to have no talent, everyone at Stardom who supported me, wrestlers from other organisations, the media and the fans who have always supported me. Thank you very much.
Sane has two matches left in Japan. She is scheduled to compete for Sendai Girls’ Pro Wrestling on September 2nd and All Japan Pro Wrestling on September 8th.
Sane is a former NXT Women’s and WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion. In 2020, Sane stepped back from in ring action and undertook an ambassador role for the promotion in her native Japan until her contract expired at the end of 2021. She would return to the ring for World Wonder Ring STARDOM in March of 2022. Sane also took part in a tournament to crown the inaugural IWGP Women’s Champion, which she won by defeating Mayu Iwatani.
